A little off topic....but Sirius Radio has an old time radio show channel (Radio Classics-channel 148) . My wife and I were listening to a show on our "Christmas drive" to the relatives and then a really cool Adam Hat ad was played.....had quite the jingle......got to love those old radio ads!!!

Here is an Adam that I understand to be pre-WWII.

The felt is dense but very thin. It holds a pinch very well.

It has an unreeded sweatband which (sadly) is separating from the body in a number of places due to dried out threading.

Stylistically, I like that it looks like earlier German homburgs which were worn by sportsmen in the field. And of course, I don't want to hit the brim when I shoulder my rifle.

It is an overcast day, so the photos misrepresent the jet black color of the felt and shiny black of the ribbon and binding.

I am going to try at some point. It bugs me out terribly though. I've been told by so many folks that unreeded sweatbands are such a challenge to save, that I'm hesitant.

Any suggestion on whom you would place your faith in?

I only know of what I've read here, so somebody else should weigh in; however, I believe Art or Bob at BSHW will tackle that.

Beautiful hat, bummer about the sweat.
It has the same size tag as my Optimo blocked Panama that I got last year. I believe that to be pre WWII as well.

I reached out to Art on a similar issue and he no longer has the equipment needed to repair unreeded sweatbands. I did not think to reach out to Bob.

Love the shape of the brim on this Homburg Matt. It kind of has the same lines as my custom "Olcott" from NW Hats. That hat was styled from a 1913 image. Covet, covet, covet!!

My first Adam is on the way. It's black on black with a charcoal binding. It's labeled as the "Tux Adam".

Where does this hat fit in regards to Adam quality? When I first saw it I was thinking 40s or 50s. After reading through this thread I'm now thinking 1930s.

BTW: Notice the quality workmanship Scott of finevintagefedoras aka Bond did on the sweatband replacement.
