I looked around and didn't see anything I'd call vintage. There's a nice argyle sweater of merino wool, which looks okay. Anybody else spot any goodies there? They have a cool camel hair double-breasted overcoat, but the lapels aren't wide enough.

I purchased a few tropical weight wools from JBank in May and just had them back from the tailor.

While the lapels are certainly wide enough for my taste, they are most definitely of modern size and woefully skinny compared to a solid 30's suit. I'll have to measure next time I think of it. The arm holes are too low, as is a common issue with modern suiting. The trousers are definitely not high waisted - the rise is impossibly short.

So why did I bother? Man, I needed light weight suits! Everything even remotely vintage in my stock is flannel or worse. lol

If you live in the South, the Jos. A. Banks' seersucker suits approach that vintage look-- but that's about it.

Yes, this is true. I own a JBank seersucker and it's not all too bad.

Whatever you do, don't ask their tailor to put suspender buttons in - having your own tailor do that. JBank tailors use cheap white buttons to match the band, and they break quick.

I will now lay awake nights fretful that at a critical moment playing croquet or sipping on a julep my braces will suddenly let go with socially catastrophic results.
