That's what I was afraid of. I already have a cedar brown with the Fedora. I was hoping it had that greenish tint. Oh well, I'll keep searching - Thanks Steven!
Since we're on the subject of colors, does anyone have an outdoor photo of Akubra's Loden? I'm thinking of ordering a Stylemaster in this color, but the photo the website shows looks a lot like their Cedar Brown. I have a Loden Stetson and it's like a green/brown mix. Color me confused at this...
The newer Sydney is a thicker felt like the current Stylemaster. The older Sydney was of a thinner felt and sometimes had a hard time holding the bash. I have both generations and the newer one is thicker and easier to bash. It is a good sturdy hat, but hey it's an Akubra!
"Two sides of the same coin there, I agree with both. As someone previously said, if you are in a mundane, boring job, why would you work on unless financially forced to. But if you thoroughly enjoy work and want to work on, just do it. It will most likely stave off dementia."
Couldn't agree...
"]No such thing as retirement for me.
Work til I die.
On to the next adventure...
I agree with you on that! People ask when I plan on retiring and I tell them when they drag my dead body out! Love my job so I see no reason to retire. And I'll just keep wearing whichever hat strikes my mood...
Yesterday I was wearing my tawny fawn Federation IV as the remains of Florence dropped on the Pittsburgh area. Nothing in comparison to what others have had to deal with but it was a day of constant rain.
This rain pattern was just walking from the garage to the house - about 10 feet.
Yeah, I guess I should have prefaced that with a size 59! Sorry for you big headed people! LOL Seriously though, even with the wait there are some good prices. Now it's only a decision of what.
On the Everything Australian sale, the Campdraft in Bluegrass Green and Silverbelly are ready to ship. One neat thing they have added since the last time I ordered a hat is that you can pay in 4 monthly payments so you don't have it all on the card at once. That's great! A new way to slip the...
With both of my Capricorns I sort of manually worked them so they didn't have that cracking sound when I put it on. Just massaged the crown of the hat until they didn't make that sound. It seemed to make them have a little bit of "give" when I put them on. Wear it in good health and enjoy!
To me the sad part is the new owners wouldn't even discuss new rent - even an extremely high ridiculous rent. Obviously they have their own plans for it, but i'd hate to see a new cell phone place open up there.
"Waiting time is within 3 months. Guess patience is a virtue in this case."
It just makes it all the more exciting when it finally arrives! Or at least that's what I keep telling myself! LOL
Got home tonight in the middle of a down pour. A large branch broke off a tree, blocking the driveway. Luckily I was wearing my Akubra Camp Draft which just laughed at the weather.
A couple of my favorite shots of Theodore Roosevelt
Who doesn't love his Rough rider beater? But here's my favorite photo of a Roosevelt hat
I always love the less than perfect look to those who wore a hat every day.
Welcome to the Lounge! Depending on your hat size, ebay can be your friend to try different styles, heights, brims etc. Although many here think that wool hats are bad, I think that they are a cheaper learning tool for determining what style looks best for you. I will qualify that with advice...
Been reading this thread for awhile and just realized that I forgot to add to it! We spent a few days this past fall traveling around West Virginia and this photo was taken at New River Gorge while wearing my trusty Stetson.
Finally got a Homburg for the more formal occasions. I'd been looking for some time and was just about to give up and buy a wool version when this Stetson came up for not much more. Not a fan of the feather on any of my hats, but on this one I think it's a requirement.
