I received these beauties on Saturday from the Hattery. I waited to post them until I shaped the Fed IV.
This is my fourth Fed and second Capricorn. Since it's still in the 70's I've only had a chance to wear the Capricorn. But this weekend is supposed to be in the 60's, so the Fed...
Well here's what I decided to go with -
So yes it's an Indy style center dent. This was the easiest open crown I have ever shaped. I wasn't sure that a center dent was the way to go, since they seem to ride a bit high, but I love the way this one looks.
Now if the weather would...
Still working on shaping the crown. I did take an outdoor picture of it before I started just to give a sense of the color in natural light.
I should have it shaped by tomorrow and I'll be posting more pics then. But I have to admit I am loving the color - probably even more than the...
This is my final Federation. It's the fourth one I have and I think enough is enough. The first was a brown Federation I purchased used, so I don't know how old it really is. It has an Indy bash. The second was also brown. It's a Fed III with a C-crown. I don't wear it as much for two...
I recently found this little gem on Ebay. It's a short brimmed Stetson Gun Club in very very dark green
The picture doesn't do the color justice. I had to take it outside to tell that it was indeed green. But the oddest feature is below.
The rear part of the leather sweat has a...
If your plan includes wearing the vest in cooler weather, then I'd agree with a thin ribbon in silverbelly. Personally for me the medium grey is the most versatile. I also agree with others though, if you like wearing fedoras you won't stop at one!
Personally, I love women wearing fedora's... except my wife - I don't allow it. Now before anyone calls me a sexist pig, hear me out. Years ago we lived in Arizona and I was looking for a nice cowboy style straw hat. I went through quite a few trying them on and could never find one that...
I remember my first fedora. I bought it in 1980 and it was a brown Foreman and Clark
and yes I still have it, plus it's still in rotation and worn regularly.
Congratulations on having inherited a nice hat collection. The fact that they're your Grandfather's hats should give you that sense of connection with him you'll feel every time you wear one. My Great Grandfather also wore hats and although none survived, several family members have told me...
If you like it then leave it alone! The wonderful thing about the Fed is that it's easy to change the shape any time you want. I have one in moonstone and it's definitely my go to hat. So wear it the way you like it. Nice bash by the way.
:eusa_clap
I'm liking that 1 and 1/8" ribbon myself. When you're talking about a brim almost 3" wide, the thin ribbon makes it look even wider to me. So here's to being bold and +1 on the wider ribbon.

I agree with you on this. I don't know Stetson's plan of course, but I don't think open crown or premium models are going to be a huge overnight success. So if they do just a few premium models a year (AND keep quality at a higher level) it might build some momentum. Most people aren't going...
I went on Matt's site and couldn't find any info on colors. Has anyone heard what willl be available? I still like the silver or light gray model we first saw.
Got caught outside again. This time I was wearing my Akubra moonstone Stylemaster.
The water was dripping off the bound edge, but my glasses were free from water drops. Always a bonus!
:)
My Fed IV softened up easily. I got it in the basic shape I wanted, wore it outside and it was promptly blown off my head by a rainstorm and landed in a puddle of water. Situation solved. LOL!
This is the hat I've been waiting for. Right now I guiess it's in the prototype stages.
Prototype Stetson Excellent Quality Premiere Whippet. Can't wait to buy in on this one. The Stetsonian and Stratoliner are nice hats, but the Whippets proportions just seem right.
Here's a picture of my Stetson Open Road after the storm we had tonight. It wasn't a gully washer, but it was a nice steady rain. And it's forecasted the same for tomorrow.
The tracking system in the Post Office used to mean a scan when you dropped off the package and another when it was delivered. They are trying to transition to a scan at every stop. Some places still havent got that idea so sometimes scans can be spotty. But you say you've called the 1-800...
Well, I guess I need to to start looking for a different hat now. I was saving my hat money for a chance on this, but if they declined it, then I guess I can start looking for something else. A premier version of the Whippet anyone?
