I was wondering where this thread had got to. I was going to dig it up because I wore a vintage One Hour dress to Governor's Island this year. I was thinking of using the pattern, but I was thin on time, patience, and skill :)
Anyway, the lady who made this dress back in the day had some...
Mary Deluxe, add me to your 50's lamp fan club! They are so cool! I can just picture them on sidetables with a low couch and boomerang shaped table... :D
As of today, I can die happy... My I Love Lucy fantasy is complete! This pencil skirt is a Don Loper lol
Twenty-first century mums!
Before you go Amazon.com route and pay for a book that may have you rolling your eyes, try looking at some blogs about parenthood!
Years ago, when I was a student I did a research project on infertile parents who were blogging about trying to get from point A to...
It is a deal! I've been remiss in my West Coast activities, but I'm going to have some time off at the end off summer/beginning of fall. Does LA have a Fleet Week? I'm sure your hubby wouldn't mind us dressing up and visiting the sailors :D
Finally, I went on a spree and got some things worth posting in this thread :)
Because you can never have too many black handbags:
50s Atomic fleck shirtdress:
the buttons are a bit yellow and dingy... I may have to replace them.
Crazy gingham 50s square dance dress...
Yes, it's black velvet wool :)
I don't see a problem with wearing men's fedoras, either. As long as the fit and shape are flattering, you will always look good.
I'm wearing my boyfriend's fedora in my avatar and I'm sure neither the fit or shape are right lol
I don't use hat pins, so I'm probably not the right girl to answer this question... and I'm not sure what type of wide bobby pin you are referring to.
BUT... :D if you don't have the long hat pins (which I think were just stuck through the hat and into your hair) perhaps you could try...
Go vintage... they are easy to find and worth the money. You may find a superb vintage ladies' fedora for the amount you would pay for a modern interpretation. It just takes a little practice looking.
Try eBay, Rubylane, or etsy. Etsy usually has some pricey repros, and they are hard to...
I do the same thing and it's helped immensely. And it helps if I force myself to use a smaller clutch or Lucite purse, too. Sometimes I even forgo the wallet and just carry license/metro card, debit card, lipstick and compact.
If I let myself have a bigger purse I'm tempted to stick in a...
I have an acquaintance who started selling Arbonne about two years ago. I sort of felt compelled to purchase something since I knew her and since other people I knew had success with it.
Not so much, me. I have pretty clear but sensitive skin, so I ordered a basic...
lol Hahaha! A lucite Dalek! I'm a lucite nut, too... That's so over the top with rhinestones I can't believe it. Did they happen to list the maker on the auction? Such an unusual shape.
The Dalek comment made my day :) A lucite Dalek purse is truly worth having some day!
