    Besame cosmetics

Right-o! Funny, lipstick might be the thing I like least about Besame, anyway. Whatever Besame shade you like, trust me, there's a cheap alternative somewhere out there! ;) And since one application of Besame lasts for an eternity, it doesn't matter so much that they're tiny... I bought the...

    Besame cosmetics

I'm really happy to hear they are doing full sized lipsticks at last, but at what cost?! :D

    Ladies suits

I wish I had more occasion to wear suits! And I'm so short, I always have to raise the hems anyway  However, if you come across anything sharkskin, I'm a wonky 34, 26, 36 short lol

    Lucite purses

Most everything on My Baby Jo is overpriced, and I should know because I've paid for it... :eusa_doh: (Damn you, expensive repro jeans!) I feel pretty comfortable carting my Lucite around: grocery stores, bars, restaurants, cabs, subway, checked baggage. I don't want to say I'm hard on...

    Lucite purses

They seem about right. Rarer colours, or styles (like the glitter confetti purses) will always go for more money. Some of the time you pay for the name of more well known Lucite purses or for oddly shaped purses. And since they are hard to find in pristine shape, you can easily get into...

    Besame cosmetics

Oi! I should have held out a little longer... I stocked up on my bisque foundation last week when I got the first newsletter. I ordered THREE jars of it for around $54. I'm not complaining, since it's going extinct anyway, but it would have been nice to get it for $10 a pop! I, too, wonder...

Yes, it was! Thanks for posting that, imoldfashioned... I never get tired of looking at Lucite. Ahhh, the Plastic Age ;)

Bad Ju Ju associated with vintage jewelry?

Yes, I should have pointed that out... especially watch out for soft stones or crystals. That's why it's better to do it with rainwater. If I were cleansing with salt water I doubt I'd give the jewelry more than a short bath with appropriate prayer, and then rinse it off with spring water...

Bad Ju Ju associated with vintage jewelry?

I've heard that amber is good for keeping the body in stasis energy-wise, but especially health-wise, so that makes sense. Plus, it's beautiful!

Bad Ju Ju associated with vintage jewelry?

lol Yeah, might just be a better idea to do a water cleansing. You can use rainwater, but it's just easier to add sea salt to spring water. I'm assuming normal people don't go out collecting rainwater :p I wish I had a story to tell. I have some silent film star jewelry with an...

Bad Ju Ju associated with vintage jewelry?

Many cultures believe(d) that gemstones and metals absorb and store energy, be it good or bad. Since metals and gemstones come from the earth, many believe that they can be put back in either soil or water to balance out the energy, or draw bad energy away. If you want to cleanse jewelry...

    Soap & Glory

While shopping today I stumbled across the Soap and Glory section and remembered it from seeing the name here. fourstarbanner said it was hard to keep in stock, and was she right! The shelves were absolutely pillaged! I wasn't sure what to get, if anything, cause I hadn't read any of the...

    Besame cosmetics

Ack! That's terrible news for me. I'm going to go over and order three right away. They come with a seal under the lid, so hopefully they will last a long time. I hope they will come out with some sort of new foundation to replace the souffle... but this one's the best I've ever used :(

Vintage Betty's Book of the Week

Vintage Betty - your last book post was just brought to my attention... I vaguely remember talking to someone about these years ago... this type of thing is just my cup of tea! Thanks so much for posting the originals... and thanks for the heads up about being able to find the reprints on...

    Show us your favorites!

What a good idea! It makes me realize that I don't even have pictures of some of my favourite pieces... Favourite Little Black Dress: Everyone I know is probably sick of this dress. Favourite Sunglasses: You cannot pry those sunglasses off of me during the summer...

    average prices?

I dunno if I would give up just yet. It always pays to be vigilant ;) I'd also try Etsy.com. I haven't looked for clothes on there in a while, but every so often some vintage or very good repro items will pop up on there.

    average prices?

Unfortunately, this is also a bad time of the year to buy. There always seems to be a rush a couple of months before VLV... There's a lot of people now trying to add last minute additions to their wardrobe or first-timers looking for VLV clothes to wear.

    Saddle shoes

I'll second a recommendation for Muffy's, but per Kitty's post, the communication may not be that great. I haven't had any trouble with them (except they can't keep the saddles I want in stock!) and like Lizzie said, they hold up extremely well with a polish every now and again. The...

    Cold Cream- Brands and advice!

Whoops! Sorry I didn't see this yesterday! To answer the Clinique question... I used one of Clinique's 3-step skin care lines. It had a bar soap, a clarifying toner, and a moisturizer. I have sensitive skin, and while it didn't cause me to break out, it sure didn't help in clearing up any...
