I hope Arnold didn't give Franco the "wrong advices" before that contest!
Bob Young, who Franco was competing against, was the older brother of Doug Young - a top powerlifter back in the late 70s - early 80s (and also the one in my avatar).
I remember that 1977 contest vividly - the very first WSM!. At 190# I believe he was in 3rd place before the fridge incident. (Lou Ferrigno was in that contest as well). Franco (the "bat") was a monster. He was a boxer and powerlifter in Europe before Arnold convinced Joe Weider to bring him...
Tell me about it! I am almost 59 and despite "eating clean" year round and working out 6 days per week, I cannot easily get down <13% in bodyfat these days.
Interestingly, most of the top pro (Mr Olympia level) bodybuilders these days are around 5'5" - 5'9" and compete at bodyweights in the 240...
I was a competitive (amateur/local/state level) bodybuilder for many years and went through the same bodyweight cycles in my younger days. In the "old days", the common practice was to bulk up in the off-season then cut for a contest...typically over a span of three or four months. This seems to...
I am your neighbor in Lake County. I had a jacket on today while hiking in the one of the parks in Madison and had to take it off. Perfect weather for a light, long sleeve shirt. Also took advantage of the weather to visit some of the wineries in the area.
A nice seasonal break!
This has been my go-to wallet as well the past several years. Love the thin profile and money clip for my front pocket wear. While both very nice hides, I slightly prefer the Dublin vs. the CXL Leather however.
I also love their valet trays (also available in Dublin leather) which I keep on my...
My daily driver is a lifted 2004 4Runner. Campdrafts and FED IVs are my usual daily lids. One thing to be aware of....most generation 4Runners have relatively low roofs (to compensate for the higher ground clearance dimension). If you are tall than a high crown hat may be an issue. At 5'7" I...
I concur that the hat looks great on you. After you have become comfortable wearing it for awhile you may want to consider "graduating" to fur felt however.
Hi Zombie,
I just use my regular (instant) coffee pot with distilled water. I shape a "spout" with heavy duty aluminum foil and form it over the pot. This allows me to direct the steam in a narrow stream.
Looks fine to me and, as the previous poster pointed out, I assume you will wear it over something more substantial than a tee shirt.
Looks like a size small, so I also assume that is as small as you can go.
My ANJ-4 got it's first use this season. Was 11 F (-12 C) this morning heading into work. I cannot wear the jacket much above 15 F without getting overheated.
The air temperature this morning heading into work was 11 F (-12 C) so I wore my ANJ-4 for the first time this season. The jacket is so warm I cannot imagine wearing it above 15 - 20 F (-9 to -7 C) !
Hope someone snatches this up. I have the same hat (albeit in bigger size) and it is one of my "go to" hats that just seems to work for many occasions and attire.
Congrats. John is known for his Indy hats but he can probably make just about any style fedora. His hats just look natural on the owners. The "Penman" hate he made for me in moss green is one of "go to" hats that just seems to fit all occasions and attire.
I concur. Nothing but good experiences with Art Fawcett, John Penman, and Jonathan Cordova - just to name a few.
I have been a member of this forum for many years and have heard too many sob stories and excuses for this particular vendor after these many years. Perhaps he should get out of the...
