yes, i've bought a few coopers, and priced many, on ebay
in great condition they usually go for $125 to $150, sometimes up to $175
what might make yours worth a bit more are the patches...normally they might detract from the value, but it's clear yours are authentic repro...
toP notch maker
yes, nice jacket! spiewak and sons is one of the top makers, or was, for the time that they made a-2s
i have one that i'd love to wear, but even though it's a 46, just a tad too small even though i have a 45.5" chest and usually take 46 size milspec a-2s
one thing i...
fLown into history
the owner of the company died in a plane crash of his own plane (only him aboard) and another plane in 1983 over Hammonton NJ, ending the company and, obviously, any more production of the jackets
i have both an a-2 and a g-1. the a-2 has slightly thin leather and a collar...
not so gLasshoppah...
as much as i respect all on the forum, i'd say the above quote is a qualified statement where the qualification has been left out...
prior to the early 90s, a2's with handwarmer pockets were not milspec, but the specs were changed in the early 90s, and i have a...
cheaP stains
i've seen pix of aero jackets, and i had one, a horsehide highwayman in lightweight hide, brown...
i never had the impression aero had a cheap, stained look from the jacket i received or any pictures i've ever seen of their jackets.
haPPy smiLing faces
given the date of the picture, one wonders why these fliers are smiling...reminds me of lyrics from the song 'mad world'...
"'And I find it kind of funny, find it kind of sad,
the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I 've ever had"
remarkable picture...thanks
my baby, with another guy!
great jacket at that price!
i had bought that jacket (not the specific one you own) from sporty's for over $200 last year...i really loved it, loved the style and all, very nice g-2 repro...however, i went into one of my manic rants when i saw it was made in...
"Trust but VeRiFY"
i'll go along with that phrase of Reagan's...i'd trust AERO, but verifying here is certainly a good idea.
i ordered a highwayman, which i sold not for any reasons of dissatisfaction...i was worried about the sizing, comparing aero sizing on ebay (bad idea, sizing has gotten...
hu-gari
that was my first choice, but then (with the bLurrrrrrrrry photography ;) i second guessed myself...either way, niCe taste in jackets and watches
kiWi for shoes?
hi, before i joined this group a few years ago i bought some kiwi to use on a new uswings g-1 replica (of course, it was not accurate, having no windflap...still being sold on uswings)
what i got was an instantly aged look...no, the leather was not poorly affected, but the...
neaTO!
those fifteeeeez shots are pretty cooL and neato!
they also prove that pecard's isn't just for jackets, but makes a great hair dressing as well.
nicely done chaps
what would i dO?
i'd probably send it to aero, yeah, in ssshotland as 007 would say...
i tried a leather tailor that was written up in l.a. magazine as the 'best in l.a.', and before doing something as simple as stitching up an a-2 windflap, he warned me that he didn't want to do it, that...
sheep date
atticus, tell your sheep hi...
when i was growing uP i kept hearing how guys liked a sheep date...so i got into that whole scene...and then many years later i reaLiZed it was "cheap" date...but by then it was too late...it was quite a traumatic episode in my life...still today i...
baHHHHHHHHH!
uh, so...what's wrong with dating a sheep?
ok, there might be soMe problems, but back to the question at hand...
probably need some definition of 'milspec' and 'issued'...
i know when i use milspec, and let me be aRRRRRogant enough to presume this is the proper...
no spec(uLation), it's miLspec
hi...the velcro patches were for the nametag, and if there's one on each side of the chest, then for the insignia as well...these were only (i believe) put on milspec avirex a-2s of the 80s (possibly 90s, but i doubt it) so yours would/should be milspec...check...
wHadddddya know???
strangely enough i just came across this pic of a u.s. civi version...and it is as you say, except it has a fuller fit around the middle, and side pockets...feast your eyes you landLubbers who eschew mil versions>>>
gooD deaL!
i'm a big fan of cockpit usa...which used to be avirex...the history is well known, the clyman's redesigned the ww2 a-2 when congress okayed it's return as an issued item to military aviators...then the company started having their jackets made for the civvy market with funny...
