I saw this image on a blog and I really liked the way the hat looked. Some hats end up with so much personality infused into them that they almost act as a historical record of the person.
The hat below went with me on a long trip through Thailand. It didn't look like that when the trip started...
That is a very nice collection of hats sir. And the black cherry, as many have already said, is a fine hat. I have on similar to it on order and you have made me so much more sure of that order. Greats hats, again. What's next?
My first hat was a Bailey Cowboy hat but my first Fedora was inherited from my father and had been kicking around my parent's house since I was young. It was a dark brown fedora with a name from Pedigree Fifth Avenue and i wore it for a good number of years until finally retiring it to the back...
DRB, that is a great hat. A white that intense is hard to maintain but a definite eye catcher. You know what they say though, the safest place for a hat is firmly on your head. Great hat sir.
I have a black longhair homburg and I like it but it's very much an opinion thing as already stated. But I will say this, that longhair has such a nice sheen to it. I haven't seen a longhair in any other color, but I would be willing to try them out.
I bought the Dorfman Official hat on sale after I read that Milano made it and used a descent Beaver. I also wanted a hit I wouldn't feel so bad abusing during some travel. It all worked out pretty well lol.
Silverbelly Indy Fedora from Peter Brothers. I really like their stiffer cowboy like...
Actually, it's funny. The grey is pretty straightforward. When you slap an oxblood ribbon on a grey hat though, its brings all this new color out of the grey. Strangest optical illusion. This is my second hat with grey and oxblood.
I like to throw a few at you at once. Mainly because I forget to post lol.
Oxblood with Silver Ribbon, Teardrop and 2 3/4 brim. I love how that Oxblood just shifts with whatever ribbon you throw on there.
Oxblood on Oxblood Mitchum, 2 1/2 Brim which is really my favorite brim width...
Okay, I almost didnt bother posting after I saw that Leia Slave Girl photo because who wants to follow that, but here you go anyway lol.
Dark Grey All Beaver Beaverbrand. Grey goes with everything.
I wanted to try out some of the more western creases on a hat and I had purchased a western hat from them previously and been happy with the work. I like the way Optimo does its rebuilds, but they have very traditional dress hat blocks from what I can see. I liked the Roy Rogers Crease and the...
I've really enjoyed my dealings with Bronco Sue and I wanted to ask if anyone else has gotten any work from them. Just got in my silverbelly Rimrock Fedora and my rebuild a while back. They're both very solid everyday wear hats and I like the alternate crease on the silverbelly. The rebuild was...
My Penman came in a bit ago, but I haven't gotten the chance to post it here till now. Really enjoy this hat. Got the all beaver model and it has a nice smooth feel. Originally was going to go with brown then switched to the light gray when I saw it on his site. I think it was a great choice...
I call that too many years wearing a hat doing very bad things lol. Use to be silverbelly. I should have let it go years and years and years ago but the hat has seen way too much with me to give up on it now. There are just some hat you cant give up.
Here's a few I posted on the new hat section a little while back, but I figured I would show these here if you missed them there. The first one is Optimo made, and the other three were rebuilds they did for me. Keeping the thread alive.
Also remember that the new colors are all about to come out for the season. There's a big trunk show in September and anyone who's looking to get an Optimo is probably waiting for those new colors to come out. I know I am.
Mink Optimo with a bound pencil curl. It used to have a much nicer crease on it but I got caught in some hellish weather and kind of lost the crease and the ribbon lol. But the hat is still a relaxed favorite of mine.
So the story goes, didn't Stetson do the Boss of the Plains style of hat with a pot for the shape? In that case, why not find a good sized pot to give it that rounded shape.
I hope this isn't off topic. I always wanted to make a hat block out of that clay you bake in the oven. I suppose you'd need a good size lump of it. But you could sculpt the thing to your exact dimensions and put just the right crease into it. The amount of clay would cost you a little but...
I already said that I would not dissuade others from doing business with them. I merely felt that they should be vocal on the interaction. There is nothing wrong with that. We all here want to know what individual experiences with hat vendors are like. I was happy with the ends of my situations...
