Saw this and thought I would link it here for all you who have an interest. I thought it was damn cool.
Follow the link to the article with a few more paintings and some explanations. I'm sure there are a few of you who've seen all this, but I never have, and some of you must not have as well...
So...if we should all just start buying them used, after this price hike...who's buying them new? Will there be any used Aeros out there lol?
In what seems an act of pure luck, I just put an order in for a russet goatskin A2 I always wanted from them. I probably wouldn't have after the...
I bring my A2s to a local luggage leather worker. I didnt know who to go to either for a while and just started searching around. In the end I found that my local luggage store also had a skilled leather worker who specifically advertised that he worked on vintage flight jackets. He's never done...
Spotted this pic on Flickr and loved it. Figured I'd share with you all. Great detail on the A2s. If you do a view image on it, it blows up pretty big.
Unfortunately I am not a full store and am going through the Zazzle services to create all this. For now I will only be making hats as they are the easiest to make. Also, from what I know, Zazzle does not allow for embroidering upon products they do not offer. So, you would be limited to their...
As of now I will only be carrying the Flying Tigers Embroidered hat, as there is a lot of question as to the ownership of some of the WWII patch art. I'll let you know if any of that gets cleared up. Till then, anyone looking for an embroidered Flying Tigers hat, have at it. Sorry for the...
Jag66 - Did the jacket you shrunk have a wool liner? I'm contemplating that myself but dont know how the wool tartan will hold up to it. Any suggestions?
Joel - I have a few selvage jeans from ironheart and a Roy and I treat them all the same, to which I have gotten very little shrinkage. I...
It's not so outlandish really. Arctic explorers wore seal because it retained heat well and was naturally very water resistant. Now I'm not talking about its fashion use mind you, but as a leather for cold, wet climates it was very well suited through out history.

Great little article with some color photos from WWII in the US. Enjoy.
http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/ww2.html Apparently it was part of a focus series with lost sof photos. Very cool.
That's the guy who did my 2nd Pursuit Squadron patch. He does absolutely incredible work. All layered leather and amazingly detailed. I just bought this one from him:
If you're looking for good patches, I couldn't imagine better ones, if you like the composite leather ones mind you. Ive put a...
I really like the leather composite patches. The one on this jacket was made by a guy on ebay who does a lot of 14th AAF stuff. Very cool. I usually like to put one patch on the chest, but occasionally I'll do one on each size of the chest if they correspond well. But patches can overwhelm a...
The Orvis Vanson Ike is a baggy cut I think. I wasn't too thrilled with the fit to be honest, and the hide was...strange. It's HorseHide and it will age and take a beating well, just to be clear, which is what you want in the end. But when I also did the whole wash process to help trim the...
I recall people chatting about this jacket and the lack of good pics but I couldnt find the thread. I searched, cross my heart, and didnt find it so I figured I would just post the link up on a new thread for your consumption. They are big when you expand them and show the jacket pretty well...
Wow, you know I never really sat down and read through this whole thread because I always knew that Vanson had some long wait times, but after reading Capncurly's review I felt compelled. Wow. Vanson really has just gone to hell, that's very sad. I didnt know that they had declared bankruptcy...
I grew up wearing Vanson jackets. I have had a bunch of custom work done with them and they have always taken forever lol. But those were complicated jackets with special design work. One of them took close to two years for them to make me. The fact that they are taking so long now on just their...
