The Ralphs Pugh is heavy steerhide. I have to say I sent it back to the seller, as I can't wear a jacket with 19,5 inches shoulders, 35 inches waist and 22 inches back. The seller was not disappointed, as he received a conditioned jacket, fully wearable now.
And about the Hercules, I think too...
No bi-swing, no yoke, a sort of one piece back with the belt sewn at the bottom sides. As nice as simple.
I just noticed the top brass "rivets" on the collar are placed in the middle, not at the pointy end of the collar. An other variation.
This jacket I will keep for sure. It's got long sleeves, and is roomy, that will allow for some layering as I like. And it's not that short. The leather is heavy, between the medium and the heavy HH that Aero offers. Still my best model after the one you will sell. Hopefully it will be too small...
This jacket is an hybrid between a half-belt and a D-pocket. It has some strange looking with the half belt at back, and the 2 half belts attached at the bottom. That's why there is no big demand for a repro. That's the kind of jacket someone wants when they already have most of other existing...
A beauty. The half-belt is probably the reason it's not mass produced today. Did someone see some repro of this one or the other early Sears MC jackets, like BillKelso seems to do ?
Aero Brando steerhide, painted back, size 42. I have the same jacket, but mine was made earlier, without paint, and I have a nice grainy Connolly steerhide. I don't think this one is Connolly.

I did see this unbranded jacket too, it's a large. No more epaulets nor belt, but $400:

If I could afford it, I would buy this steerhide one too. But the shoulders would definitely be too big for me on this one (at least 51 cm as mentioned).
The HH I just bought from this seller is a dream. You should ask...
Be careful with the measurements on this steerhide Hercules jacket, ask photos to the seller.
I just bought a similar Hercules in horsehide, from the same seller, and there are big differences between the mesaurements mentioned, and the ones I took myself : the main defference was the chest, it...
It was my grail. Some of these models with detachable belt should be redone today the way they were made in the 1950s. Maybe with one inch or two added at back, but nothing more. And not for $2000...
The Sears Hercules MC is at home, I like it a lot. I Don't know if it really is a size 42, it's written 42 on the detachable belt only, that may not be the original one for this jacket. But The shoulders measure around 18,75 inches at back, sleeves 25,
chest 47 ! I have plenty of room, exactly...
I will post pics of mine when I get it, in the other thread. It has almost everything I like on a MC Hercules, and if I remember correctly, an other member has posted a photo, wearing a very similar one.
I understand that. The pics of Terry's 1947 show an AMAZING HH leather, that's the thing I absolutely like. The 1947 has the nicest design, followed by the first through belt. After that, the models changes are not what I prefer.
No, not the same as this one. The HH Herc I found is almost exactly the same as the one you bought on eBay, the jacket on the left of your photo (1952 or 1953 maybe, I Don't know). Here are the pics from Etsy, quilt lining is the main difference, and label too :
For the moment I am still...
Hi Terry, the jacket on the left is one you bought on eBay (184733455799) I think, I was Following it some time ago (Vintage Bikers Leather Jacket !940s/50s Hercules Sears Made In California Nice | eBay).
In a video you did this Week you show this jacket and say it's a size 46, which is Strange...
