Wasn't it Groucho in "Horsefeathers" who as Dean of a University said and I quote loosely:
"I'm going downtown to buy a couple of Football Players!"

Yes.... In my eyes The Riddler was a second Banana in Batman's Rogues Gallery. Quirky and funny but not really dangerous. A thief and trickster rather than a psychopathic murderer like the Joker. I felt the same way about the Penguin as well. Interesting and funny yes... dangerous, not...
You're right. I shouldn't paint with so broad a brush. Bad habit, probably developed because we rarely, if ever, hear the good that people do. Good doesn't get clicks or sell tabloids I suppose.

I try to keep my assessment of the "man" to his conduct ON the field. If there was a "morals" clause in any Pro Sports "Hall of Fame" all of them would be practically empty!

I never liked his attitude and have always considered him a self absorbed bully. Buddy Harrelson (also recently passed) played Shortstop for my beloved NY Mets. They met Rose's Cincinnati Reds in the playoffs. Ever the "Hot Dog" or "Red Ass" as they say in baseball, Rose slid hard into second...
John Amos - Best known as the Father on "Good Times" in the 70's. I hated the show but loved his strong portrayal of a Black father trying to do right by his family. He left for the same reasons I stopped watching. They turned the show into the JJ "DYNOMITE!" crap fest and I lost all...
"Penguin" - This series on HBO picks up right after the last live action film with Colin Farrell again playing a rather divergent take on the the titular villain. However this Penguin's story reads and feels more like "The Wire" than anything to do with "Batman". No monocle, no top hat, not...
I too enjoyed "Pennyworth" a great deal. It was a marvelous alternate universe and, like you, I couldn't wait to find out the history behind that "swinging 60's" England. It was fascinating. DC and Marvel to a certain extent, have gone bonkers with this "Multiverse" or "Multiearth" business...
Tried watching some old episodes once. Didn't realize how silly the show became in it's second season. Time was NOT kind to this series. Still I remember it fondly! Ah the spy craze of the 60's.

Very interesting and amusing thread. Thanks, best laugh I've had in days. I personally LIKE the look of fear/dread I often get when wrapped in leather. When attired I only have to worry about drunks and fools.

One funny thing though... I walked in my neighborhood for 20 years and few if any folks would talk to me. Soon as I got Ruby EVERYBODY seemed to want to stop and talk. Things that make you go Hmmmm. Too scary to talk to until I got a sweet natured Aussie as a walking companion? Enquiring...
Welp.... There's lots to like in my neighborhood. And some things to dislike. I live one block away (and it's a short one) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute est. 1864. One of the better engineering and architectural schools in the nation. This brings with it some pros and cons.
Pros...
Despite being a "Marvel Maniac" since the 60's B'TAS is what lead me to pay attention to ANYTHING D.C. related. Watching it as an adult, I got hooked. The one thing D.C./Warner has managed to do right is their animated films and shows (for the most part). Like you I fell in love with B'TAS and...
Yeah.... this one hurt. A LOT. I remember watching the Motown reviews when they passed through NY City as a kid. The Temps had the moves BUT the the Tops had a CANON in Levi Stubbs. And the fact that the Tops lineup NEVER changed kept them in my heart. Sigh......

"Late Night With the Devil" - This quick and quirky gem of a horror movie is something else. It essentially is a time worn tale. "Dance with the devil, the devil don't change. The devil changes you!". A radio jock turned late night TV star sets his sights on overtaking Johnny Carson. It's...
