A recent addition to the herd and another ticket to this society: Pre-1956 Royal Stetson Stratoliner (probably 1953 because it has an earlier sweat). A nice mid grey (much like the current "Caribou" but with some blue undertones). This one interestingly has a 2 3/4" brim! So I won the hat... -

Mine is like yours, including the shark gill bow, and patterned lining but in a very dark blue. I cannot remember the brim binding or not but the felt is very nice and can be creased with ease......"somewhere around here, there is a picture or two" as they say.;) Ps: found one of my... -

I cannot remember when it was first introduced. I know Stetson was fooling around with their felted edge (and other brim treatments) in the thirties. I have a thirties Dobbs with the Cavanaugh edge...it is very narrow....but other than that is just like the later versions. The sweat is... -

I had never seen this either.....but they have to be around don't they? I mean most every hat shop should have had one...like my shop had similar button trays. I guess a lot does get binned after it is no longer needed or the shops close..... and YES, I love the advertising on the underside of... -
