    Just a few general questions.

Has anyone ever seen someone, in person, not in a dramatic production or carnival, wearing sleevebands/arm garters? Or spats, for that matter.

    BRACES (SUSPENDERS)

Agreed. For any of us body types, doesn't hanging the trousers make more comfortable sense than cinching them around our middles?

    Titanic Construction Photos

Back during the post-Titanic movie craze, there were several good, large format books with similar photos. After touring a WWII Battleship below decks, and looking at these Titanic photos, who would not impressed by the force of this technology? Miles and miles of pipes and wires, controls...

    In praise of Todd's Costumes..

Todd has some fun things. His repro Alden 405's were really close for the money. They were not real leather-'for display only' but perfect for that. He had an Indy revolver and the Browning High Power also-Tanaka airsofts.

World's only remaining "Ghost Car" up for auction - 1939 Pontiac Deluxe Six

This was amazing! I am semi-literate in older cars but had never heard of such a thing as plexiglass car bodies. Fascinating! Thanks for this.

    B-17 "Liberty Bell" crashes, burns

Nothing to add to this thread except condolences and thanks all aboard lived. How many of these are still flying? Damn few. One comes to Cincinnati each summer and offers rides. Now one less.

    A bit strange Military Medals

I agree but it is a bit discomforting to see members of some Societies (I am an SAR member) kitted out in a n heroic splash of medals, mostly purchased and representing the good fortune of birth or non-regulation 'commemorative' medals not authorized by the DOD. That said, any DOD authorized...

The men may be gone but the ordnance will continue to blow up French farmers far into the new millenium.

Wouldn't you love to have his 'crusher' and A2 jacket?

    wtb: USMC roughout/boondocker boot

OK, I bought both the ATF and the What Price Glory boondockers. My take is that the ATF ones are better tread pattern but a tad flimsy at the toe. They sno-seal beautifully to look like a vet pair and are comfortable if you put a thick felt insole in them. The toe profile isn't as prototypical...

    Cardigans for casual gentlemen

We're getting dangerously close to "the Dude", or "el Duderino", if you're not into the whole brevity thing....here. I bought a couple of those Pendleton sweaters for Lebowskifest-the correct color/pattern ones. Not cheap but really comfortable. Shawl collars are great in a draughty house.

    wtb: USMC roughout/boondocker boot

ATF is usually very good quality stuff. Anyone have a comment on the sizing of the boondockers? Rollin says on the site that they run one size larger than marked.

    Rough-Outs Dubbing.

I have just ordered a pair each of roughout boondockers (ATF) and GI service boots (US Equipage) and will use this method, the Sno-seal. This seems to be the general consensus from the online searches for how to do this. I also like the suggestion of using a razor or razor blade to 'shave' the...
