Fedora - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wikipedia is a very good place to get up to date information but on certain topics it is very lacking, as is the case with the article on fedoras. The problem with these topics is that the amount of published material is limited, which makes it hard to cite many good sources. The wikipedian...

Food you keep going back to, because it's just what you need right now

My fall-back-to dinner is lasagna. One hour in the kitchen and two hours waiting will supply me with breakfast/lunch/dinner for 4 days, if not more.

    Short Sleeve French Cuffs?!?!

I really don't think its such a bad idea at all, in a fashion-way. He needs to loose those extremely flashy links, though.

Help me date this Gieves DB shawl collar jacket, plz.

Were talking minimal differences here. In comparable darkness (you wouldn't wear a dj in broad daylight, would you?). As long as the trousers you decide to use are black and barathea, none would notice unless they decided to brighten up the dining room with a hefty industrial lamp. Heck, I even...

Help me date this Gieves DB shawl collar jacket, plz.

I don't see the problem? There is no reason not to wear it as intended.

    Shoe width modification

Any cobbler should be able to stretch your shoes for a small fee. I often do it with vintage shoes, and have had good results.

    FS: Suit, dress boots

Bespoke suit by Henry Poole, not vintage (1999): Coat is a double breasted 6-button-2 with peak lapels (of course). No vent. Working cuff buttons and lapel buttonhole. No rips or tears, but requires cleaning. The colour is dark blue, lighter than navy. Fabric is summer-weight worsted, no nap...

    Toppers Unite

There are plenty. They do not make plush for hats, but for carpets and teddy-bears.

    Toppers Unite

Indeed it is a myth that silk plush can no longer be produced. There is a very low demand for top hats today, and when someone does buy one, they get a felt or melsusine hat. There is also a large supply of vintage silk plush top hats out there. This makes the crafting of new silk plush top hats...

FS: Silk Top Hat 58 Long Oval

Might have been a bit unprecise there. I think the hat is a 58 with a sweatband. Upon closer inspection i have found markings that say it is a 58 (7 1/4).

    Unworn Walk-Over shoes pre-1900 (?)

Neat summary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dress_boot They are called button top boots, and are basically formal boots worn commonly until the 20s. (More so than the shoe.)

FS: Silk Top Hat 58 Long Oval

For sale is a vintage top hat. It measures to a size 58, which fits me with some extra space at the sides. I regularly use size 59 and 60 because my head is an extra long oval. This leads me to believe it fits a 58 LO, but not extra LO, as the sweatband is missing. The silk plush on the...

    Ice Cream !!!!

Mmmmmm. I have a lot of trouble keeping myself away from my motorized cranking ice cream maker. Last Friday i enjoyed an episode of Poirot with a bowl of hazelnut ice cream. I can also recommend cognac ice cream or vanilla ice cream with sherry for you connoiseurs out there.
