Might have been a bit unprecise there. I think the hat is a 58 with a sweatband. Upon closer inspection i have found markings that say it is a 58 (7 1/4).

They are called button top boots, and are basically formal boots worn commonly until the 20s. (More so than the shoe.)

Mmmmmm. I have a lot of trouble keeping myself away from my motorized cranking ice cream maker. Last Friday i enjoyed an episode of Poirot with a bowl of hazelnut ice cream. I can also recommend cognac ice cream or vanilla ice cream with sherry for you connoiseurs out there.
