I say inexpertly because sometimes my 'do-it-yourself' instinct goes too far. The brim on this rabbit Adventurebilt has been trimmed down to 2" for that stingy-brim/high crown look. It's not a perfect job, but for my first try I'm rather proud of it. See the photo for a good look at the brim...
For sale is a light gray Mallory in 7 1/4 that I received from a fellow lounger last year, but that just doesn't fit now that I keep my head shaved.
In good condition barring some moth bites, five in total, but none that create actual holes. There's two on the crown sides, one on the front...
Even on a 30s slim fit? Do you know if that pattern has slimmer armholes than the standard cut? I'm sizing myself for an Aero and wondering what exactly I should ask for to get the right fit.
Very nice jackets fellas, goatskin is definitely in the running now, though I'd still like to see some steerhide examples.
Yeah, I'm a pretty skinny guy. Though the more I hear about them, the more I think that Aero has what I'm looking for.
I did notice their goatskin, and it does have a nice look to it. I know Aero is good with custom orders, would changing the type of hide be within possibility?
So I was eying an Aero Long Half-Belt, but frankly I just don't really care for the waxy, slick look their horsehide has. The photo in the steerhide section doesn't really do it much justice, so I was wondering if anyone has a brown steerhide from Aero they wouldn't mind showing off.
Also...
Well, as someone who does a lot more poking around in the classifieds than posting, I can see someone joining up for the purpose of offering an item for sale, and I'd hate to miss out on something just because of the restrictions.
Maybe I've just been lucky enough to deal with honest folk before.
Magnoli Clothiers will make anything you'd like in that regard. Can't say I've owned a jacket of theirs myself, but I recall several folks around here being satisfied with their products. Also I believe Magnoli is a member here, which couldn't hurt if you have questions.
I've only had the jacket for a season, so I couldn't really comment on it's durability. For what it's worth, I've worn it around for a few months and it still looks like new. I did notice one odd thing about its construction. When brand new, some hairs from the liner poked through the leather...
I was given the Cabela's B-3 as a gift this past Christmas, and I would call myself reasonably satisfied. The leather and lining is certainly thinner than other, more expensive examples, but it's definitely warm! I didn't need any other coat to brave the Montana winter...
I've had a VIP cowhide for a couple years now, and I suppose I could recommend it. The leather is very flexible and drapes well, but isn't too thin and has a nice grain. It's worn well, in fact it still looks almost new, which I suppose can be a good or bad thing depending on what you're looking...
I have a similar issue (though my 'wide brims' aren't exactly that wide). I find that if I switch back to a stingy, even if just for a day, then it's my wider brims that feel out of place. It's just whatever I'm used to seeing in the mirror that sticks in my mind, and anything else looks weird.
Haven't had anything new to show off in awhile, but this weekend I've been enjoying this Mallory Premiere I received from Razzman.
"for youthful smartness". Thanks Razzman!
