I would recommend staying away from online shops for the moment until you've had a chance to try on some different hats in person, and also , until you've had a chance to see what kind of prices are in your area.
When I first started looking for hats I thought I would never find anything...
Hey, let's just hope this starts a trend with their friends and family, and slowly, from every corner of the world, the FL starts a vintage-look trend everywhere! :D
btw, for those of you interested, the two Biltmores are fur felt, the green/grey one is fur felt?, the porkpie was wool and the homburg is...wool...I think, just well made wool felt.
Just in case some of you thought I didn't own a fur felt after those previous posts of mine.;)
Congrats on the awesome hat and bummer about the fit! Give it some time to see if it will shrink because I personally that hat looks great on you! Great pics, btw, thank you!
Wow, that's one sharp hat but egads! that size wouldn't fit me in a million years.
So the answer is no, I did not win that hat, although I sure wish I could have bid on it!
Thank goodness there's an economy version because I was hoping I could trade the 'quality' of my pimp hat in for the satisfaction of a reduced price!
:D
I could only hope that 17 year olds dress like this again some day! Great pictures. I don't suppose you could ask anyone in your family about that hat could you?
Well I for one disagree. Why wear a shirt at all? Heck, I just waltz into whatever establishment I fancy with no shirt and a big hat and I think it's swell!
It sounds like you got a good deal either way and I'm sorry to hear it arrived in the shape it did.
And yes, if it's possible, post a pic of how it looks now and how it looks after the "fixing". I think we would all like a look at it! :)
So would you say a high blend poly/low blend wool suit would be a good investement? Or would you guys consider that "cheap" or not worth the money?
I know Jones of New York tends to do some poly blends and I've seen a few suits on the bay listed like this. I've also seen quite a few suits...
Gosh, you know, I've given away quite a few of my grandfather's ties and not thought anything of it. Generally they were ugly (IMO), too small (Wembley) or I simply didn't like them.
Ha! I probably gave away a fortune! :eusa_doh:
Next time I decide to give some ties away, I'll let you...
You know, that's a good question. Do you take your hat off at a bar if you're getting a couple drinks? I would assume if you were eating, you would take it off.
Personally, I tend to take off my hat any time I sit down somewhere. That's just a good rule of thumb for me.
We certainly are living in a Philistine society. I've often been chided about my "habits", and I'm often referred to as "the old man". Heck, I've even had (ex)girlfriends become hostile with me for trying to open doors, carry heavy things up stairs, etc.
Sometimes, I just don't think a good...
