I'm not a huge fan of tattoos but I'm a pro-choice sort of guy.
Most of my friends have at least one, while a dozen friends (all women) have sleeves and 1/2 sleeves. It's almost as if tattoos are a right of passage. I disagree, IMHO.
I've lived with this quote to keep me from even...
I have a few I've picked up over the years. The first three are from various people in my life, the others are noted.
"Never steal anything less than a million dollars, that way if you get caught, you can say it was worth it."
"If someone throws a grenade at you, throw it back!"
"If...
I'd want people to come dressed well. They could all stand around, grab an arm or leg, or whatever they can get a hold of, and throw me to a pack of hungry wolves. Burn my belongings, wreck my car and sell off any estate leftover.
And that's just my wedding!
I dare say how I feel about my...
Tell me if I'm wrong but my understanding was that you were not to wear a pinstripe suit to a funeral (although I think just about any nice suit is fine, nowadays). Gray, blue or black, or otherwise dark business dress was the order. Plain black shoes, modest, subdued accessories like cufflinks...
I really like those M-1 Garands. They seem to be getting harder and harder to find in my neck of the woods. Occasionally, some pawn shop will have one for sale for $1k. I like the gun, but I wouldn't pay that price. Supply and demand, I guess.
What is it like to fire the M-1, by the way? Is...
This coming week (6/28-6/30) I'm going to make an attempt to get out there. It's only a few hours away and I think it would be well worth the drive. Thank you all so much for the tip!
Are there any other outlets like this in the midwest?
I think my other material passion besides nice hats is guns! So let's see all those mechanical masterpieces! Any and all gun pics welcome just as long as you actually own the thing!
This picture is of my two revolvers. The top left is my Smith&Wesson .357 magnum w/6" barrel. I do carry that...
Once again, I was going to post a topic about this but here's one already and all my questions have been answered!
I found a 7 1/4 Royal Stetson for $5 at an antique shop with original box. I contacted the only hat store in Des Moines and they advised they can reblock and stretch for about...
I also purchased some cotton handkerchiefs at a Walmart that use as pocket squares. Make sure you get the 100% cotton ones and not the poly/rayon/whatever blend. It's nothing against the fabric, I just find the cotton ones absorb better.
Personally, I like to believe I purchase a certain material (or item) based on its usefulness, it's durability and its charm.
If classic style was back in fashion, I would be thrilled because the availability of the clothes I like would rise. However, one downside, in my opinion, is that...
I listen to so much stuff you wouldn't believe.
Right now I have Meshuggah's Nothing on but next on my play list is a collection of Leadbelly songs. And then Squirrel Nut Zippers. And then Depeche Mode.
You know, ever since I saw this movie, whenever I think of regular old joes from the Golden Era, I think of Tom Hanks. I loved this movie, the costumes and especially the hats!
