Nope, this hat is a 7 3/8 and it's a little too big for me. I'm closer to a 7 1/4 and a bit of a long oval. Art told me I'm an egg oval. I wonder if he meant egg head? lol I'm sure Art can fix you up though.
I have an Art blocked panama that I bought from Robert and didn't like the block. I asked Art to reblock it, replace the ribbon and shorten the brim which he graciously accepted.
It started out like this:
and Art changed it to this:
You might call Art to ask if he has any...
Ralph, I bought this semi-colado from Panama Bob, and we sent it to Gus Miller to block. I don't know what the weave count would be if it were closed, perhaps Robert can elaborate on that. I think it makes a fine looking panama, and it's a pleasure to wear. Gus even included two ribbons with it.
That's good lookin' Bart. Your dad sure looks like he likes it. ;)
What are the specs on that one?
Man, you guys are killin' me with these hats! I've been looking at Art's felt samples again this soon!
I got an order confirmation e-mail from Hatsdirect on the 11th. When I ordered my Campdraft it took almost two weeks to get here. IC, you seem to get yours a lot faster than I do.
I'm a big fan of the Feds and Akubra in general. I have one Fed Deluxe IV and a Campdraft and love them both. I also have another Fed Deluxe IV ordered...I couldn't resist the great prices now.
Interesting observation, Neil, but I have only bought and will only buy panamas from Panama Bob. I know him to be a straight shooter, and he is well respected here on the lounge.
Sorry to hear about the die issue. The Nostalgia is a nice looking hat and would be even nicer with a wide brim binding, but I don't want dye running down my neck if I get caught in the rain. I'm glad you made that point, Larry. I probably won't buy one now.
By the way, welcome to the lounge...
I wear my hats straight from side to side and usually from front to back though the front to back can vary, for example if I'm in a car with a high seatback and my hat hits it. That way the amount of snap in the front brim determines how low the hat actually looks.
