This one's an interesting hat. Looks nice and I like the color. I hadn't heard of Strand Hatters before either. Is it imperial quality or heritage quallity felt? I just checked Hatsdirect and the Fed Deluxe IV is at $110 and change this morning. -

I think tawny fawn is more like my heritage fawn colored Fed. The taupe fawn looks lighter to me, like more of a beige. -

My Campdraft is shaping pretty well to my long oval head by now. When it was new I thought about putting on a jack for a day or two but wearing it has done the trick anyway. I bought my Fed a size too big, so I snug it up with the foam Hatsdirect sends along. Anyone ever bought any like that... -

I can't see any green in the hat. I can sort of see a little bit of green in the picture I posted, but it's the light I'm sure. The hat is what I'd call a mid brown, I guess. -

I've been wanting to get a moonstone Fed Deluxe IV, but, man, I am neck deep in hat orders now that I'm gonna have to pay for sooner or later. I'm really tempted...i hate to pass up a deal like that, but my wife is going to start having cows pretty soon. -
What's a good beginner fedora?
It's easy to crease a hat, Sean, especially a Federation. The hat lends itself very well to a center dent, and if you bash it and don't like it just push it back to an open crown and start again. -
