Hadn't seen the actual language posted yet so I thought I would add this for your convenience. Obviously this does not border politics, but if this is inappropriate, feel free to delete.
The Switchblade Act
TITLE 15 > CHAPTER 29 > § 1241
§ 1241. Definitions

(b) The term...
Now there's an idea, Jack!
I realize self-pub'ing can be both expensive and exhaustive, but if you fit in a niche, and you're not "representable", you could very well make something of it.
And wouldn't that be nice, the car was effect! You've been selling your novel for a few months when...
Isn't that the truth. On the other hand, it also reminds me of what a great community we have, and what excellent guys and gals you all are. No kidding.
Now here's an idea! Perhaps we should really focus on the "fedora" look!
Maybe it's too hard to nail down a definition of the hat because there are so many exceptions and gray areas. But what if, instead, we focused on a style, or "look"?
That means we could include things like straws and...
I've been fortunate enough to handle a number of vintage hats over the years, and about the same number of modern hats. The difference I've seen can be equated to the following: mass-production.
Like others have pointed out, vintage hats could be a mixed bag. But for the most part, the skill...
Be careful, even some of those aren't accurate!
I think we have to look at the term Fedora like a marketing professional. We can't define it too rigidly in order to allow for different styles which we will eventually exploit (porkpies, homburgs, tweed caps, trilbies, etc.)
On the...
Really enjoyed these photos, thanks for posting! I had a chance to look through them last night, and during my lunch today. Great quality shots and very interesting.
Excellent idea, Scotrace; do post when you're finished and we can look it over.
I remember when he first opened this thread, and I thought, "God, I hope he'll be alright." I'd been wondering about him, so I went looking for the thread hoping someone had posted good news. :(
It's strange...
 Darnit!
I know, it makes you just want to give up, doesn't it? And then some agent goes and says, "Blah blah, your idea isn't right for this market, blah blah."
But then you go to a book store and see 17 different books about dog's wearing bow ties! Who reads this stuff?! :rage...
I think RLK nailed it with his list of definitions.
I think it's a good idea to have a comprehensive, tentative definition of fedoras anyway because it's handy when explaining it to those interested in our lids.
I know I've been wearing a homburg and had someone ask where I found "that...
Quite true. Top hats are white tie only (including morning dress, which is itself a dinosaur of sorts), and required in "uniform" for WM's of the Masons.
I think the cocktail suit is an excellent way of bringing "formal" to any occassion, but alas, it's still not as "formal" as evening wear -...
I don't believe Feraud has any obligation to meet this ridiculous challenge (but I'm certainly not speaking for him). You produced the argument, thus you should provide the evidence. If you're unable to produce evidence and thereby back your own argument, your logic is at fault, your argument is...
Wow, no kidding! See, I should have been working towards my goal, but instead, I've been researching fabrics so I could update my fabric glossary on the Lounge. :eusa_doh:
I promise I will work towards my goal!! :rage: lol
Perhaps there is an issue with silk liners in the suit as opposed to nylon/rayon/polyester liners.
I believe water may ruin silk, causing it to either stretch or shrink, and also to become stained. On the other hand, I don't think rayon, nylon or polyester would have this problem as long as...
