    Camp. Irony. Naive. Old-Fashioned.

I've toyed with responses to "Why are you dressed up." I think a good one that tends to be accepted (and not insult your the person who asked) is "I like to dress up." Which is true, right? I also like "It's what I do." (As in, dressing up is what I do.) That usually gets a little laugh, too.

"So how much do you make a year?" No longer taboo?

In my particular line of work, or work to be (high powered NYC lawyer! lol) Junior associates are all started at the same salary in every BigLaw firm. So there's no reason to talk about it. Everyone knows how much everyone else in their peer level is currently making, and how much they will...

    Show us your hair do's....

I didn't take any pics of a good set yesterday but fortunately my friend Joanne did! So here's a side view (I'm the one in pink): and a front view (that's me on the right):

Do We Let Celebrity Determine Style ???

I am totally horrified by the way this thread has gone so far... but not as horrified as I am as by starlets wearing FOOTLESS TIGHTS as PANTS. Put on some pants, Lindsey! Of course, scores of high school and college age girls disagree with me... lol

Calling Cards (name cards, not phone cards)

That's true. That's probably a better assumption to make, if I'm going to judge, since they are really classeh.;) Plus, I suppose the gentleman wouldn't want me to have his work contact info.

Calling Cards (name cards, not phone cards)

Two thoughts about calling cards. When I receive one, I think the following: 1) Hey, pretty classy. 2) I wonder if he's unemployed? Why didn't he just use his business card? For better or worse. lol

A brand new, energy efficient 1930's house

But cooling is a part of warming. The ice caps melt, the ocean gets cooler, and more severe weather occurs, including colder winters and stronger hurricanes. Warming leads into ice ages for this reason, whether natural or no.

Veronica Lake -The Woman Who Smiled Little

"Pizzazz" lol I cannot believe the difference between her casual smiling face and the glamourous image! In one, she's a siren. In the other, she's a skinny kid! Wow.

A brand new, energy efficient 1930's house

I think the whole thing about lead and mercury is right! It's clearly bad. I just think the Lounge is funny sometimes. "Well, the mercury is only dangerous if the thermometers break!" lol Double standard. Anyhoo, I've looked into this whole warming thing pretty closely. I used to think...

A brand new, energy efficient 1930's house

Two things: First. There is a thread somewhere about how old thermometers (used to take temperatures of sick people) were so much better. Everyone seemed to agree. What did they contain? Mercury. Paint in the Golden Era? Lead. The outcry about the lead/mercury content in the new bulbs...

    Paniers in 1920's dresses?

I've heard that robes de style were very complicated, but the ones from the Met collection, above, look very simple. That's always confused me.[huh]

    Scarlett O' Hara's Lipstick

I have a color called "Catfight" by Nars that's a really good semi-matte neutral shade with a hint of pink.

    Wallflower pt.2

Well, that's the Charleston alright. The basics of the Charleston are incredibly easy (I'm no expert myself, I only know the basic step)! I bet YouTube could teach you it right now! :)

    My, how times have changed

I'm sure the boy, if he actually commented on the "pretty belly button," was just parroting his mom.
