    what makes a dress an evening dress?

    Well, the seams on that make it look somewhat like an evening dress because it isn't simple. Add that to the sophisticated black color and you have something that looks dressy, I guess. Maybe try a tiny dot pattern, or a more daytime fabric?

    50s button-back wiggle dress. 38-28-38. Has a few repairs (darted) at the armholes. Asking $25. Wide-collar white semi-sheer pleated skirt dress with lucite rhinestone flower buttons. 27" waist on this one. Bought on ebay but never worn (waist too small), asking $40.
