Remix has a 40s playshoe-style wedge that has a closed toe (style name Pathway). It's on their sale page - http://www.remixvintageshoes.com/salepage.html
Also, they have a number of 30s styles with closed toes.
Bras are absolutely worth spending a lot of money on. You get what you pay for! They will make your clothes fit better, increase your comfort, and improve the way you look.
Flats look great with skirts and dresses and are very period appropriate. You CAN find some with extra cushioning, and if you add an insole or gel pad inside your shoe, it will help too.
Wedges will probably be a good bet for you. Also period appropriate, but maybe with that more finished...
I've recently discovered, much to my dismay, that MAC has discontinued the shade "Glam", which was a great pinkish-toned matte red.
However, they now have MAC Red, which is a creamier shade, also with a lot of pink undertones and oh my, is it lovely!
Such a kind post! I'm so glad we were able to make a difference! Just remember that your image is a combination of how you appear on the outside AND your carriage and attitude. How you carry yourself is maybe more important than what you actually look like!
I made an acquaintance of mine cry...
It doesn't get much more classic than Converse All Stars, and I love this variation - the All Star Light. The classic look, with a slimmer, more feminine profile and sole, and a lower cut around the ankle. Less clunky, more feminine - I love them!

Brooksie, you've also chosen to focus on a decade that works better with your natural shape. There's something to be said for working with what god gave you!
I currently have a 35" bust and a 28" waist. There are no problems finding vintage items.
A good girdle/waist cincher and a nice padded bra are really where you want to start.
Possibly. The problem is that if your skirt is really slim, a shaping garter belt will show through your skirt, even with a slip. Also, I think most shaping garters don't really provide that much shaping.
I've seen Luleh at Macy's before. Never bought it though because the fit is weird on me and it seems like it's more for bedroom attire and less practical for everyday wear. Their items are pretty, I just can't imagine that any of their shapers come anywhere near the quality and control of a...
They're vintage, got them on Etsy. It's funny, I originally came across the Faryls while looking for red shoes, since I don't have a pair of red heels and it's one of the accessory colors I wear the most!
There was a pair of red Remix babydolls that went for $35 yesterday on Ebay, and I...
Sadly, the Faryl Robins with the teal heel that I ordered don't fit - they're like a whole size too big. Don't know if they got put in the wrong box or what, since the size isn't marked at all on the shoes. Makes me so sad :-(
But oh well, I'll return them and got these instead!
