    Bookster Three Piece Tweed

I'm about to commission a hunt coat (frock coat style) in something very similar to the brown herringbone.

David Tennant has a FANTASTIC summer suit here

Of course the rise on those trousers does not help. Nice Dalek.

I will gone for awhile...father just died

My condolences Jim. I know a little of how it feels, I lost my father very suddenly some years ago. Take care, Steve (HBC)

Do you have a strategy on ebay????

I usually bid in the last few seconds too, either by an automatic sniper or manually. I agree with BK, you need to know what you are looking at rather than rely on sellers description. I would say that many bargains are to be found from private sellers who don't really know what they have and...

Tv Characters with the best suits currently on tv

Antique John Bly who is often on the BBC's 'Antiques Roadshow' is usually well turned out.

    WWII Crusher and Garrison Caps

Back in the days when I collected such things I always made a B line for large size Bancroft Flighter's. I've been out of such things for some years now - are good original Flighter's still around much?

    Love letter from 1940 unearthed

I spent some years as a curator of a museum based within an active military camp over here in the UK. The base itself is pre WWII and as time went on there were obviously numerous modernisation schemes one of which was to upgrade all the accomodation - both married and single. We usually...

    Bookster Three Piece Tweed

Agreed, it I would prefer to see it more waisted but as has already been said the oversize does not help with the impression. Centre vent, hacking (slant) & ticket pockets, throat latch and material all point to it being a country suit with a sporting / equine flavour. An 'action back' or...

    Bookster Three Piece Tweed

Gurteen are manufacturers not retailers as are Wensum / Bladen. Their sales are outfitter based, not internet. As I say the conversation had broadened and my mention of these (local to me) companies was as a result of Alan's 'Pytchley-style' & 'epicenter' observations. 'Pytchley' being an...

    Bookster Three Piece Tweed

The conversation had broadened somewhat but both companies above are well known here for off the peg tweed garments both casual and sporting.

I hope so too. As you know also near the epicenter and close to me are Gurteen and Wensum / Bladen

You can see definite echoes of the fitted waist and full skirted hunt coats there Alan. I see (and wear) clothes similar to what MK illustrates being worn all the time. Visit to many an equestrian show, country or gamefair in the UK during the summer will see racks and racks of sporting...

    Bookster Three Piece Tweed

You can see definite echoes of the fitted waist and full skirted hunt coats there Alan. As an aside I might take issue with your 'used to lead' comment but feel that is not an appropriate discussion here.

Ticket pockets were originally also somewhere for small change - especially when mounted on a horse, for tipping hunt servants, 'keepers and the like.

    Morning Coat Alterations??

With a morning coat you have the added complication of the waist seam and paneled back. I have taken in and let out morning and frock coats, anything is possible, but as has already been said finding someone with the skill to do it and being able to do on a economic basis is the key.

    Bookster Three Piece Tweed

Agreed. Fit aside it looks like a good quality modern off the peg British country suit with fairly typical features. I like traditional features like hacking & ticket pockets and throat latches and wouldn't attempt to turn this kind of garment into something else.

Feedback on e-bay. Fair or not?

^^Exactly BK. Just one reason why I do not leave feedback until a buyer has left theirs.

Feedback on e-bay. Fair or not?

I buy, I sell and have used eBay for well over ten years, I have a 100% positive feedback record. As a buyer I always leave appropriate feedback. When I buy I make sure I read all the terms and conditions and abide by them to the T. I always pay promptly and ensure I have the correct method of...
