It appears the artist was Fred G Cooper and there's a slightly different version here.
I can't actually find any biographical info about Cooper though, but here are some more links to Cooper's work:

I have no doubt that he does have a medical condition, but part of his own treatment for that condition is to visit the gym twice a day. It therefore follows that burning calories in a gym will affect his weight; if burning calories will affect his weight, then consuming fewer calories in the...
I recently finished the most recent of Lawence Block's series of Matt Scudder books, #16 All The Flowers Are Dying. I only picked up the first in the series late last year, got immediately hooked and soon worked my way through the rest. Scudder is a marvellous character - an alcoholic ex-cop...
Bugger! When do you come down? Are you in London on Sunday 28th? Fatboys is closed on Sunday but we might be able to get out to the Riverview for a late lunch or an early dinner.
I've been a few times to both Fatboys and the Riverside, and while the food's not up to the standard of the diners I've been to in the US it's still good basic diner grub. How long are you in town for next week? We should try to fit in a visit - maybe Tuesday afternoon? BT will be leaving early...
There's a thread here.
The search fuction doesn't seem to work very well - a search for more than one word does an OR search i.e. old OR town and returns every single occurence of either word. Even using a '&' sign, a '+' sign or the word AND between search terms doesn't work. I've tried old...
Merc really are shoddy, as are the other Mod clothiers around Carnaby Street. There's a tailor in Portobello Green in Notting Hill, west London, with a shop just called called Adam that I think has been making suits since the '60s, and whose work seems to be much better quality. There's an...
Have you lightened the photos Mike? I first looked at them on my PC at work, and they were too dark to see any detail, but looking at them at home on my Mac they are much brighter. Anyway, nice suit now that I can see it - I like the width at the ankles. And nothing wrong with the haircut -...

You are too kind Paddy! I bought my specs from http://www.retro-specs.co.uk/ They're UK based but ship to the US for $10-$15. They have 6 pages of 40s and 50s style frames starting here, and these are the ones I wear
...but these look more like what you're after
...or these
...or these...
John Simon's in London has probably the largest stocks of new G-9s anywhere and he will ship to the US, so he may have what you want. You have to phone or fax your order as he doesn't sell over the internet - contact details here.
Oh, I didn't think you were a WW2 veteran. What I meant was that any visitors to the towns now will see them pretty much as the 101st saw them in 1944.
I'm glad you like it - I've cycled through both Ramsbury and Chilton Foliat and, apart from an increase in the number of cars parked in the streets, the villages must look exactly as they did when the 101st were there in 1944.
Colin - if you get down to London any time soon there are a few branches of a Japanese clothes shop called Uniqlo that have some good, timeless, cotton twill utility shirts in the sale for £9.99. Uniqlo is a bit like Gap and sells decent quality basics, and occasionally gets some good work...
