My handwriting was terrible so I picked up some books and started a course of hand writing repair. The fountain pen was recommended because you slow down using one.
I do not use extreme high end models. The very flexible nibs are not good for my hand with the essential tremor.

Fedora, thank you for the education and for the time you spent on that post. Much appreciated. BTW, in answer to your question, exchange rates favor the Dollar-Australian transactions right now making price almost even.
You mentioned the quality of production dress hats that are made for the...
Looking forward to the story if we can get it, thanks Lefty!
as for an updated campaign, I don't think it is possible to keep much of anything secret anymore. Instead, how about a play on all of the craziness and panic that seems to assault us daily:
To keep your head when all about you are...
better yet, get this Stetson Whippet in black using the ad at the top of the page to get $10 off. Support the board!
BTW, I'd link to Bencraft but they still don't have a whippet, or a nostalgia either.
Being my first real felt, I had played around a good bit with the brim and noticed it was getting a bit floppy. As I was going to have it cleaned, blocked, and bound, I did not worry much. I figured all that would bring it back up to snuff.
When it came, it was very snappy. The hat brushes...
I am exactly 23" and it was marked 7 3/8" which was correct. Unlike my Chatham, though, it did not have the little extra room to allow for shrinkage.
Sure wish I could walk into a hat store and try on a hat before buying. Nearest is St Augustine and they mostly do straws.
Nostalgia Due
Optimo called back on Friday and the Nostalgia is being shipped so I should have it in a week and post shots.
Interesting note: I had noticed that the hat was snug and they said it measured right in at 23" and suggested that I have them resize it 1/2 size. What the heck, it's...
I am subscribing to this soap opera, uh, thread out of pure cussedness. I think we should all PM panamadub and tell him we're going to lobby the bartender's into changing his name to panamadud unless he comes across with some pictures. His account gives the location as China so it could be that...
The Origin of Marvel Goose
It was the ritual first of the quarter meeting at Valdosta State University’s WVVS-FM. Newbies, oldies, and lost souls were scattered across tables, chairs, and bookcases effortlessly affecting insouciant poses. Most of the meeting could be ignored and most of it was...
I believe this was a shot of Professor Quirrell's hat from the back. Lord Voldemort was hiding there and the hat has conformed to the shape of this face. Just sayin'
What a fantastic link, Lefty, I spent a few hours reading the entire site. I recommend it to any Lounger. Thanks for posting that.
Has anyone here ever bought a hat from Brent Black?
My Stylemaster started out large and began to tighten - and tighten. Soon it was a little too snug and I pushed back with a stretcher. I'm now putting it into a stretcher when I take it off for the day. No problems since then.
My experience was different. I'm exactly a 7 3/8 and it was exactly on it. I sent it off to Optimo to have the edge bound and had them stretch it a half size so it can shrink back to me. Expect it back in a day or so.
The felt was lovely and thick. You could shape it dry by hand with no trouble.
Materials cost is just one small part of price. labor is also a factor. No one has addressed if beaver is harder to work or involves more time to finish.
Are the sub-quality Beaver bodies more numerous than the sub-quality hare? A higher percentage of unusable beaver bodies would mean higher...
When you read through the books on hats it is always noted that people used to wear hats everywhere, including at the table, until the last few hundred years.
I recently attended a breakfast meeting with a crew of field people. They all had on their baseball caps with the corporate logo and...
