pink...that dress is the loveliest! you look darling in it.
i...um...i'm afraid i might have to copy it.
which would be a cool thing if i knew how!! lol
oh, that's a shame that you missed an opportunity to rummage through it all and hear their stories. i've missed opportunities like that with my family, too. so now, if i see something cool, i pounce on it and demand a story. lol my poor grandmothers. lol
miss elise - thank you! the book is actually really fascinating. it has some good illustrations of sewing techniques and lots of advice on how to dress based on body type, etc. and it's in pretty good condition. the vendor actually had two of these. i wonder if any of the other ladies here have...
continued....
two ice cube trays
sorry...but this nail clipper was too great to pass up...
and my favorite..."The Complete Book of Sewing" published 1943.
i'll stop posting a million photos now. sorry. :P hehe
i made myself get out today and go vintage/antique/thrift shop hopping by myself. didn't get what i was hoping to find (stuff for the vanity)...but found some cool things.
as a knitter, this was totally awesome. (interesting patent info)
a thing to keep score in for bridge
a plasticky...
i did the finger rub test...but i didn't smell anything. but i have a terrible sense of smell...so... and i don't have any 409. :) the guy that sold it to me said they were bakelite...but i don't think they are. i'm 95% sure they are lucite. they're pretty either way. :p hehe
thank you very much! the photo is of my beautiful grandmother. :)
oh, thanks! unfortunately, the top does not open. only the drawers are usable. although...it would be awfully useful to have a bowl of water available...like, right there. lol
ahh. i love being hated for my furniture. lol...
i got a bedroom suite. bed, dresser and vanity w/ bench and mirror.
here's a view of more of the vanity...
after some restore-a-finish...should be lovely.
see, that's exactly what i need to do. put the sets on a safety pin or something. i'm not sure if my grandmother would remember details like that, but it's definitely worth a try.
Yes that is a Red Cross pin! I'll have to ask my grandma what she knows about the pin.
dhermann1 is right...they're salamanders. or some kind of lizard. :)
Ha! Scandinavian sense of order... lol
My grandma is definitely being taken care of where she's at, and it's worth the 3K a month. She can't walk anymore without assistance, so she needs 24 hour care. But...she misses being home, and I think she's grieving the loss of her independence. And...
Thanks!! I have even more buttons that I'll post pics of later...and I'll remember to post pics of the backs of the metal caps. :D
Those scissors are THE BEST. They're still sharp and oiled and like new.
