ohhh what a great prize clara!
i have a large collection of 40s and 50s mystery pulp books. they have a fabulous way of stating things. you just don't get that kind of grammar these days.
I would love to learn how to spin yarn. We went to a country type fair this weekend and there were quite a few spinners there for a demo. I watched them for awhile. It was so relaxing watching it.
But...a good spinner can cost you $1,000. And to be honest, I really don't need another hobby...
oh how pretty! did you make up the pattern? what other things do you crochet? i'm working on a few xmas afghans for my sisters. i just got my new issue of "crochet today" today and there is a fantastic vintagey looking hood/scarf. i think i may make that for winter for myself.
I'd own a yarn store so I can pet yarn all day. And crochet all day too and noone would think I'm weird. Oh, and take field trips to alpaca and sheep farms so I can pet them too, and buy more yarn :)
yes...i'm addicted.
I don't know if this link has ever been posted before. Where is my disposable income???!!!!

also in the search box, type in "ingrid". those red shoes are to die for.
imoldfashioned: i was thinking the same thing. when the one lady was talking about how she wrote letters and sent boxes to the boys from her neighborhood....i don't even know who is serving in my neighborhood. if a list exsisted....i would write letters and send packages.
i think the reason...
I've been a WW2 historian for 7 years now with my main focus on women war workers. I was SOOOO excited to see a segment on that last night. I loved it so much that I watched it again at the second showing at 10.
You never hear about women war workers. That's a shame.
i think you might be disappointed down the road if you don't have photos of your wedding. we don't look at our photos very often, but i'm glad we have them. and the once a year i pull them out, i'm glad i have them.
I must say that I am completely jealous that you are getting married in that house! What a FANTASTIC idea. I love that movie so much, I know the whole movie script while I'm watching it. So completely jealous.
I agree with bebopbaby....pointsettias would be really fitting for the season.
I want a modern one. I want the energy efficiency. I had a 50's fridge in my last apt and while i LOVED it, it sucked up a lot of electricty and the freezer was tiny and was always freezing over, so i had to thaw it out a few times a year which was a pain.
wow....they are expensive though...
Have you seen Rachel Ray's repro 50's stove and fridge on her show? (BTW: I can't stand her, I was just flipping around and saw it)
They don't sell them at Sears or Home Depot, etc. Does anyone know where you can buy them? Does anyone know how much they cost?
I MUST HAVE!!!
oh yes, we go to FIG every year. My husband has been going for the past 14 years.
I didn't go this last time because I was pregnant at the time. My friends and I run the German French cafe. I really missed doing it this year.
as for the yarn:
I'm super picky when it comes to colors of OD...
I wish I could dye my hair. I'm just too lazy to worry about the up-keep. I don't have any grays YET (YET being the key word), so I'll just be lazy until I have to dye my hair.
I need another hobby like I need another hole in my head, but as a reenactor, anything WW2 is a disease.
I LOVE to crochet. So I've been making some repro scarves. I found the PERFECT USGI mustardy OD 100% wool yarn (didn't photo too well), so I'm very excited about that. I even found a roll...
