    Smoking Back in the Day

An aside, I find it kind of funny how hookah bars get the slide on all this legislation. They just opened a hookah place across the street from the university in my town, and it's ridiculous. They let anyone buy it, regardless of age, which irks me a lot since no one college age and under seems...

    Smoking Back in the Day

I agree to an extent that smoking in restaurants shouldn't be allowed. That extent being that there is no difference between the amount of smoke that's in the non-smoking section and the smoking. But I believe in free association. If you don't want to go to a smoking restaurant...take your...

Ever yearn for a vintage name?

I hate hate hate my name. Brody. Not Broderick, Brody. So there's no way of ever sounding professional by going with my forename.

NYPD going back to super strict 8- point hat uniform policy

Is it really surprising to find a rare bird on this forum? :) It's just my personal experience, I suppose. My Pop Pop was the chief of surgery in a Philadelphia hospital for 50+ years, as well as serving on the board of 7 others. He has a lot of horror stories involving police officers...

NYPD going back to super strict 8- point hat uniform policy

I'd rather not feel safe and actually be safe than feel safe and not be. **** An aside, I don't mean to show any disrespect for the good police officers out there.

NYPD going back to super strict 8- point hat uniform policy

I personally don't agree with it. Instead of focusing on the appearance of your police force, focus on their performance. I won't like the cop with flagrant disregard for the laws he's supposed to be enforcing anymore if he's dressed prettier. Furthermore, function takes a huge precedent over...

    All hope is not lost

I'd agree. It's not even manners. I was never taught it. It's logical. More logical than out of control horses, I think, since there's 250 of them packed into more than a ton of steel.

    All hope is not lost

The walking on the outside of the road works for me. But if I ever use "sir" or "mam" when addressing someone under the age of 60 or so, I get glares and the occasional "How old do you think I am?!".

What pens are we carrying today?

That's where I got my pen! We happened on it by accident, while looking for Vegan Planet.

    Typewriters

Late 40's Remington Rand Deluxe #5. I can't find a ribbon that fits, so I just string a ribbon through and place the spools on either end. Thus making this a stationary model. My carry about is a Smith-Corona Cougar. Cursive typeface. Early to mid 60's I believe?
