Ok so you think all the "classics" are perfect, huh? Here's a list of goofs from the May 19 Long Beach paper:
1. "Citizen Kane" (1941): Susan Alexander Kane (Dorothy Comingore) is shown finishing a jigsaw puzzle. In a later scene, she is just starting it.
2. "Casablanca" (1942): Major...
Well Johnny people on this forum are constantly looking for reassurance that fedoras don't look goofy when worn in normal social scenarios. Now what the hell looks more goofy than a non-mailman out and about wearing a pith helmet if they're not laboring in the sun in a hot clime? Any $5...
Here's a link to a site I found on one of the military forums I visit for all sorts of caps and hats http://www.reiss.dk/hats/categories/List/default.asp?Cat=6
Ok I'm a huge fan of the 1979 cult classic The Warriors. Recently read the book that inspired it and have to say as a writer it was well written for the most part but the movie script was tighter and better overall.
Marc- I haven't seen Chinatown probably since it was new and what I recall was one mistake- when filming driving scenes the California reflective lane buttons on the white road stripes stuck out like crazy. Didn't have those in the movie's era. But that didn't ruin the film for me. That type...
Cargo packs that men carry around today are an extension of the workplace that requires you better have your laptop with you all the time and WORK even in your leisure moments. People are working more and longer hours than ever...mostly for companies that expect it and will toss them out like...
I just saw it on pay per view. Didn't previously know the premise so I was pleasantly surprised that it was set in the 30s-40s. The Japanese men wore some decent hats and suits too.:)
Atterbury- in the 50s-60s when I grew up kids wore hats made for kids that looked sorta like the winter/high altitude aircrew caps some with wooly fold down ear covers. You'd see kids with those small brimmed caps that I call English school boy caps. There were few baseball caps worn. Very few...
I would say that for anyone working outside a felt fedora may not be the best choice for headwear regardless of looking goofy perceived or actually. There are many, many woven straw hats with brims wide enough to be effective in sun shielding that are not fashion statements or expensive.
Viola- Gold chains, still? I'm stunned:eek: Wow we haven't seen that in Southern Cal. for many years!
Matei- I don't think sweats will ever get paired up with a sport coat...but I could be wrong.lol
Overall I wasn't alluding to jeans and a suit jacket but an overall, worldwide...
Wild Root is an exception driving his '46 daily but there are substantially more folks doing that these days. Maybe not 40s cars but certainly 60-70s cars are seen in regular use now.
Me? I don't drive mine much. I feel a specialty car shouldn't be in regular use, but that's me only. It's a...

Hey Wild Root, are you still needing to...
Hondo- I was one of those 35" guys for decades too. Some 34s would fit fine though and most of my pants were 34s. But enough new try-ons showed them to be too small and a 36 was in order. Frustrating. That's part of how I noticed the fluctuation of sizing. All that ended a couple years ago...
I've seen that web page before when I was looking for something else. All I can conclude is that whatever was seen was verified by more than one military spotter or the command to fire wouldn't have been given as they knew the schrapnel from those AA rounds comes down again and has to land on...
