    ...she used the word "Style."

MrsRedPop tells me I'm getting too old, and that at nearly 40 I shouldn't be wearing fedoras yet. Whatever. I like the "my grandfather wore a hat like that" type of compliment. If they're willing to say that, then it means we've brought a happy memory to someone of a person for whom they had...

When did young people stop wearing hats?

I work at a "HBCU" Historically Black College or University. And I get compliments, almost DAILY on my hats. My normal hat is a tan New York wool with a 1 inch brown ribbon OR a Dorfman Pacific Indy. The ONLY person who still dislikes my hats is MrsRedPop4.

    ...she used the word "Style."

:offtopic: Back to baseball history, John J. McGraw, the longtime manager of the New York Giants from 1900 or 1901 until nearly 1930, was called Mugsy, sometimes. But according to some of his players, NEVER to his face or in his presence. It was a name he hated, and according to one of them "if...

    National Straw Hat Day

Wish I'd known. I have a beat up old straw hat that is in need of a re-block and a stretch. It belonged to my grandfather, so I'd love to have it in wearable condition. And, alas, my Havana from PanamaBob hasn't yet arrived. I wore a light color wool fedora if that's any compromise.[huh]

When did young people stop wearing hats?

They shouldn't be TOO difficult to find. Large ball caps are not to my liking. I'm a moron, as I still like ball caps, can't be too doctrinaire or judgemental. I also enjoy sports, so I have caps from teams I support, or schools where I've worked and what have you. But I prefer a...

When did young people stop wearing hats?

Rally caps are definitely important. The inning PRIOR to the Rally Cap, the players doff their hats, and hold them upside down, by the bill and shake it so that the luck will fall into it. Then if that's not enough, the rally caps are donned.

    Anyone Know the Answer?

Look on your local newspaper website, as well. I know NOLA.com here in New Orleans is the website for The Times-Picayune and there are forums for every conceivable topic from current sports teams (LSU, Saints, Tulane, Zephyrs, Prep Sports), insurance and rebuilding issues, to nostalgia...

Someone sent this to me and I thought...

Lotta truth to that, Marc. Look at music. I think, I don't have evidence and could be completely wrong, but I'm not the only one, am I? I think that there are many who hearken back for "music" where actual human beings play actual instruments, together, at the same time, as opposed to using...

    Akubra Cattleman

Right there with you on the "I'm poor" part, Mr. Mis. Got other important things to to with my money, and spending too much on hats will lead to expensive bills, either medical or legal. Guys, I IM with Ben Lee during the day, he's absolutely stuck in. You like how his short list isn't so...

    Cocktail Museum....

Thank you. What was sad about it was that despite the family, the crowd at the funeral and all the love, he had no contemporaries. And from all accounts was sharp until the very end and he managed not to let having friends his own age get him down. His children were all in their seventies...

    I must be crazy...

Been there, not that beach, but not being connected and on vacation. I know when we were evacuated for Katrina, we walked to a gorgeous public library in Collierville, TN and used their computers to not only check on people, but for me to post on the other board I frequent and moderate.
