Sadly, my wife is much like Jake's although she's commented negatively it hasn't stopped me. Wish I'd known this in my prime. Hope the younger guys like Mr. Misanthropy et al will get to understanding this and take advantage of it. -

If you're not roasting your own, the next freshest thing you can do is to grind your beans immediately before you brew your coffee. Invest in a decent burr grinder and grind it then. This keeps the coffee from getting stale on you, especially as you work your way down to the bottom of the bag...- RedPop4
