I think about things like this often. My parents met on the off-chance that they were both in Quito, Ecuador at the same time. My dad was living there (being a bum hippie after college selling Panama hats! ;)) and my mom was there on business. They were from opposite sides of the United States...
I have a few vintage furs, one of which I got at the Goodwill and has somewhat scalloped edges. It's lovely and has snaps sewn to the underside, for snapping onto a coat, I suppose. I hope I can find something it will look nice with!
I love furs, and am never creeped out by them, even the...
Definitely talk to friends/co-workers! That's how I found a place to live next year and it looks like it will be pretty good.
I was scrambling for awhile this year, freaking out because I'll need a new place to live for 3 months at the beginning of the next school year and I'm pretty shy so I...
I'm selling a great pair of 1950's cateye glasses that I picked up at an estate sale:
If you're interested you can check them out here!: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130114333607
Upon the suggestion of some of you lovely ladies in the lounge, I decided to purchase a Rago 619 Shapette Brief Girdle ($39) and a Rago Long Line Bra ($50). I got them dyed a gorgeous candy pink, which is why they cost $10 extra each.
I tried them both on (with my own undergarments on, don't...
Where are you planning on going? If it's not somewhere extremely fancy, I'm sure with the right shoes and accessories it will look just darling. Nice jewelry can dress anything up, I feel.
I don't often go out anywhere nice at night, so I'm pretty clueless on the dress code surrounding those...
Ooh Rosie, I just bought a very similar dress this weekend! It's the same shade of green and a similar shape, but has some sheer white material on shoulders, and two pockets on the front. I'll post a picture soon.
Green dresses are the best!
I love those stockings Daisy! I've always wanted a pair like that myself. I have my eye on a fancy pair of stockings (sans rhinestones, unfortunately) and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the price won't go up too much.
Ugh, Ebay plays with my emotions too much!
I went to the vintage...
The 40's hair was AWFUL. It looked like some bad office hairdo. Totally stuffy and not representative of the 40's. And that weird power suit they put her in? Even worse.
Hey ladies! I have two packages of "Retro Seamed Stockings" from What Katie Did up on Ebay right now. These are darling stretchy seamed stockings (they give a perfect fit, I own two pairs myself) in Nude, size small/medium.
You can check out my auctions on my About Me page right here...
That's gorgeous! Too bad it went so high!
I always feel like I'm missing out on great things in the 1947-60's category. There's just so much stuff and I never know what to search for!
Oh I definitely will! I left them all at my parent's house though since I'm trying to focus on school instead of Ebay-ing for the rest of the quarter. But I'll be back home in June, so I'll definitely put a bunch up in the Classifieds then! :)
Well I've been badgering the boyfriend to take some cute pictures of me in my vintage outfits (it's too hard to take pictures of myself!), so maybe this weekend he'll actually do it for me!
For now I'll just look and get inspiration from all you lovely ladies!
