I agree, I have a 1938 hairdressing manual that was reprinted in 1947. It is pretty much the same book, I paid £28 for it at an antiques fair. It's all still a foreign language to me !
I have to say I was confused as to what you all meant by Sassy Curlers so i did a google image search. This might help:

I have two marcel wavers and have found them to be be useless.
I have thick hair and it does have a lot of curl, but they work just fine on my friends hair (thinner and straighter)

You gals all have my sympathy and my respect!
My mum was in the WRAF and my dad was RAF and they spent so much time apart.
He was in Aden and Malaya and then with the Foreign office in Oman and Bahrain.
I used to get lovely taped messages from him and record ones for him too. I can't tell...

You've got me in a quandry now as I can't remember the tune!!!!
My fave (apart from 'The way you look tonight') is this: Steve Conway did the best version...

Anyone tried this company?
http://www.evadress.com/SilkStudio3.html I've bought a few patterns from them, I seem to remember that they did more vintage style wedding dresses.

Well, I have to say Jimmy Stewart, particularly in his USAAF kit.
Wow...tall men. Yum.

Funny folks
Men always seem to like it.
I don't think I dress vintage daily, I have to wear uniform at work -so that rules it out... but the ladies always say my hair looks retro (I sometimes roll the sides) and I got a nice comment in the pub last Saturday when we were out on a visit (all in...

Am dying to try Mac, did someone say they found it drying though?

dan-druff-be gone!
Try Lush, they do a solid shampoo bar called 'soak or float' and it will leave your hair flake free!
It also contains no nasties and hasn't been tested on the Easter Bunny!
About £2.50 ($5)

I have some lovely wartime utility smocks in beautful colours and patterns, my fave being a lovely red paisley!
I wore them with a normal wartime skirt, but used a 'button expander' (loop and elastic as used by women in the 40s!)
My son comes alongs to things with me, he loves it but didnt...

Hello all, I've been lurking for years and finally decided to say 'howdy'..
I'm 33 and live in the UK, mainly depicting women of the Home Front 1939-1945 and the Womens Services (WAAF, ATA etc)
Incidentally, Eleanor Marie, don't think there's nothing out there size...
