My favorites were the Strangers on a Train and Rebecca layouts (Jennifer Jason Leigh would be a fabulous Mrs. Danvers!).
On the cover spread it cracked me up how uncomfortable Ellen Page looked (she's sitting 6th from the left in the grey dress). It's so not her to be all gussied up.
Oh, I know! I usually love Kubrick, which is why I went at all but--just, no. Also, I saw it in a theater, which just made it seem a million times worse. I'd really like to be able to expunge that from my memory.
I've got a friend who keeps wanting me to watch the original Dutch version...
More Twin Peaks. There's so much about this show that I'd forgotten. Kyle MacLachlan is wonderful in it and so many of the supporting characters are strong too. I'm really enjoying it thus far.
The idea of the Bluths invading your subconscious made me chuckle SSB (I hope you're feeling better, by the way).
I've had a couple movie related nightmares. The Wicked Witch of the West completely freaked me out as a child (come to think of it, she still scares me as an adult--I think it's...
Ooh! I have a huge collection of sheet music stashed away--I'll have to dig it out and share some scans. The graphics can be wonderful on these and they're relatively cheap too--a nice collectible.
There's some lovely photographs from the set of this in the Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair that's out now. I couldn't find them online but they're worth a look if you have the magazine.
It's a very strong cast (Matthew Goode, Michael Gambon, Emma Thompson, Ben Whishaw) and Andrew Davies...
Had some friends over last night and watched the pilot and first 3 episodes of Twin Peaks. It was just as weird as I remembered. I still love Audrey and Killer Bob still makes me shiver.
Please forgive me if this has been noted already (I took a quick look and didn't see anything) but I found some lovely seamed stockings at WalMart (?!) today for $4.88 a pair. They even have plus sizes. I'll let you know how they wear but out of the package they look lovely--lacy top, good...
I adore Roy Orbison--his songwriting skills, his voice. So sad he died relatively young.
On topic, I'd have to go with Brad's choice; Sinatra's Songs for Swingin' Lovers is hard to beat.
It's amazing, isn't it? The end is so poignant. Thanks for the reminder, I'll have to watch it again.
As an aside, the first time I saw that movie was in a theater. It was really a different experience seeing it on the big screen but it's wonderful in any format. The cinematography just...
Good to know, I'll give it some time. I've read that this series was like Buffy in that the creators expected it would be axed and so the first year is essentially made up of episodes that would stand alone. Then in the 2-3 year they started getting more into characters, series mythology, etc.
