Around here there are a zillion kids organizations that now sell paper subscriptions instead of stale over priced candy. They have been very effective cause folks wanna help da kiddies right?
This sort of reminds me of the recent thread of neighborhood bars and taverns.
Where I grew up in St. Louis there were zillions of campy, dark, unassumingly plains dens of iniquity. Yet in other cities I've been in some just aren't the same.
While I found them in Wyoming I didn't in...
Back in the 50s the FCC or whoever censored things still allowed the showing of people imbibing beer in commercials. Many shows were live then and the various personalities of the local stations did the commercials.
There was this one guy named Joe Brennan who did a commercial for Stag...
In reverse the usage of human drugs in animals works well too. My White German Shepard got adequane (spelling?) shots every 6 months for arthritis. I gave him 4 extra pain free years I'd say....:(
Yes, for the antithisis of The $#@*^ Thread most forums I patronize have a "Things I like" thread to balance it out. :)
I'm am thankful for all my church members being concerned about my illnesses.
I love vintage cars!
I love cats and dogs
I really like most of the folks here and...
Been subscribing to Long Beach paper since the 60s. Problem I find with a lot of the online "news" is that is is simply very poorly written. I see stuff that people on forums point to and find compositions that are often pure speculation with no substantial core facts, just some schlub's...
Gotta realize too that the majority of young men were lean. We only bulk up with age. I used to peruse the Military surplus places in the 1950s as a kid and there was very little big stuff. It was like it was just made of us kids we thought.
On Ebay today there is a miniscule amount of WW...
Ya know what I love about this thread? Several of us look at the Thompson semi-auto replica and say, "yeah, I'd to have that," and there's no detracting a-hole carping, "why does anyone need that thing?":D
No reason to be shy about the topic. I'd like to peruse some of the old signs I saw growing up in the 1950s St. Louis again. Besides Falstaff, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Schlitz, Stag.....:)
The guy who authored that stream of consciousness babble is appears to be attempting to connect things that are unconnectable except under the most obtuse circumstances.
But seriously, I'm sorry to say so, but then discussing it is just "gay" also. The guy is obviously full of crapola and...
The aromas for sure are triggers. Old cars have a unique smell inside too. and a few people have asked if they could stick their head in my old car at shows and get a nostalgia hit!
All I know is that I rarely see anything that would be in my size of say 46 from the 30s-40s-50s. I'm 6' @ 225. I just figure the big guys' stuff didn't make it to this century ofr some unknown reason.[huh]
AeroDillo- the first 5 round M1 carbine clips I saw were in the 1950s....they were specified for certain geogeaphic locales for hunting.
Back in the old days most juristictions allowed 5 rounds max for deer season. And you either had wood block spacers or cut down mags. Believe me you...
In the 50s telephones got installed in some strange, for today, places. I used to see odd-shaped little tables like that in every house I knew. Usually a phone was on it. Often phones were installed in hallways for some strange reason and narrow tables were used. They were also put near...
