    What is this?

Really? I've never seen anything like that - perhaps we don't have that kind of thing here. Thanks for the insight, everyone - I knew there'd be someone here that would have an idea at the very least. :D

    What is this?

I thought that was a shadow but yes, you're right, it is a dark ribbon. As to dual colours, I have no idea. :(

    What is this?

No, that's all there is to the image and the pattern just refers to the waistcoat (and her outfit). [huh]

I came across this image in a knitting pattern book and cannot for the life of me work out what the man has attached to his lapel. Anyone know?

If I had to pick one guy from the golden era. . .

Gregory Peck tied with James Stewart. Cary Grant is/was handsome and all the things mentioned here but, I don't know, there was just something about Peck and Stewart. As Atticus Finch, Peck was magnificent - all the right ingredients for my kinda guy! But Stewart as George Bailey, when he...

What do you do for Living?

Thank you Spitfire, yes I did and I am so glad. I am much happier and less stressed now. I suspect most people that make a living from their hobby are too. What Are You Reading

Non Fiction; Edith Head by David Chierichetti - not a bad read but certainly not brilliant. I'm not impressed by Chierichetti's style of writing - it seems to be to be quite amateur. But there are some great photos and it offers quite an insight into Head; a lot of which I can easily empathise...

"1940's Hairstyles" The book will break the bank

I've got this one - it's great! The first part deals with design principles (which is one of my big things anyway, so I find it very interesting) and the second is all hairstyling. I've bought quite a few books from this seller and I have nothing but great things to report.
