Lady Day, I have never seen a pair of high waisted pants like those on your pattern in real life and if I ever found a pair someone would have to resuscitate me. lol
Those are so lovely.
What I don't understand is how the heck were the busts so tiny??
There are so many pretties that I look at on eBay and then I see the measurements and my exictment fades. I have a 27 inch waist and could probably get it to 26 with a cincher and moderate sized hips so I always am ok there but...
I find that if I loosen it up a tad before driving or sitting at my office desk, it doesn't wrinkle as much. I consider them a necessary evil though because they do a good job at cinching my waist. I just wish they were not as bulky.
I just heard this on the radio and got the chills. I agree it is very much long over due and it's sad that many of them are not alive anymore to see this day.
I hope they show some of it on the news so I can watch it when I get home.
LadyStarDust, you look great!!! What kind of rollers did you use.
I am thinking of going to Sallys Beauty Supply tomorrow after work and would like to pick up some rollers and clips and am kind of overwhelmed with the selection. [huh]
I once saw a man driving his car and it had no windshield. To avoid getting anything in his eyes he had on a pair of old airplane goggles. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. lol
I am the same exact way. I find that the larger thrift stores will sell the older clothes but the chruch and charity run ones won't. They claim they have limited inventory so they only put out the best which consists of Talbots, Jones on New York, etc. Yeah, those are high quality clothes...
And here is a blue dress I bought dirt cheap. I love the detail at the shoulders! The only thing I don't like is the belt buckle (which I hid in the back). The dress is either 70's or 80's and it looks like that with the gold belt buckle. It has snaps so I can snap it off so now I have to...
I have been thinking of getting a waist cincher but have never worn a foundation garment before and am kind of afraid to. I guess I can be uncomfortable for the sake of fashion. Heck, I do it w/ my shoes. :D
I have been holding off though saying I will take up pilates again instread but...
Medusa, I too will buy things that are somewhat damaged and try and fix them.
I thrift twice a week and love it. It is causing problems as far as storage is concerned though. I had to pick up clothing rack to hold all of the new stuff I bought. The way I look at it is I get it so...
I have the same problem. I can get things to fit in the hips and waist but once I try and zip it up I can't get it past by rib cage. I am 5'3 and about a size 4-6 and can't really shop on eBay for vintage because it is so hard for me to find in my size.
Miss Bella, I too look for purses the same way and the Made in China on purses of any other garment causes me to put it back as I know it's late 80's or older. The purses can be tricky though because they do a good job with making them look vintage.
Thanks Viviene for the fantastic read! I actually got a little teary eyed reading it. You have a great blog BTW and I am going to have to check it out int more detail. :D
