I drink a lot of water, drink a cup of coffee and for some reason I have to have salt. I normally can't eat for a few hours after waking up with a hangover and the first thing I crave is something really salty. I feel much better after that. When I was younger I used to have a Bloody Mary to...
I didn't even think of the antique stores. Good idea! I live in Central Massachusetts (about an hour away from Daisy) and northern cental has a ton of antique stores. Maybe I will call around and ask them if they have any. I am taking a break from sewing the lining. There are no tags on...
Thanks everyone. I will work on all of the contacts you gave me this upcoming week. I will be so happy if I can get it working and finally start using it! It will be another thing I can start collecting. :D
OMG Shearer that is crazy! Talk about clever.
I am not making anything but have to sew the lining up on a 1940's coat I got that a thrift today. I saw the damage last week and didn't want to spend the $10 for it, but I kept thinking about it all week and was kicking myself for not...
I have never seen Notorious but always wanted to. Ingrid Bergman is one of my favorite actresses so I try and see most of them. Do you know if it's ever been on TCM?
And thanks for the FYI on Roots. I read that book for the first time last year and couldn't put it down. I have wanted to...
Yup, I noticed the price of those and I agree they can be steep. The eBay sellers also seem to make good money on the manuals too. I couldn't get over the cost of some of them, especially because they were photocopies.
Yes it is. It also says Musicale High Fidelity Coronet inside of it. I did look on eBay to see if I could find something similar to it, but didn't see anything except for vintage advertisments.
Absolute or Tanqueray and tonic with lime. There is something about tonic water that prevents a hangover for me and after I hit 30 I get hangovers a lot so stick with the tonic water. :D
Thanks everyone.
Scotrace, I believe it is a late 50's early 60's model. I have no clue what kind of needle it is. This is the first phonograph I have owned since I was 12.:D
Dixon, I just registered over there and am waiting for my confirmation code so I can search. In looking at the...
I hope I am posting in the right section, I am still a newbie and don't know what subject belongs where.
I know it sounds like a strange question but I am hitting a brick wall. I bought a vintage Webcor Phonograph and everything works but it needs a new needle. I am clueless when it comes...
I hear you. I have found a few at thrifts (one I adore), and there isn't much on eBay right now so it's rather depressing.
Canadadoll, that dress is wonderful!
LOL Pink, I just changed it. I can use it as my curl barometer to gage my progress. ;). I think I need bigger rollers. LOL, I am going to spend over $100 at Sallys by the time i'm done sigh.
Thanks for the pics. I will try those tomorrow. I have naturally wavy hair so I think my hair may...
Okay, the foam rollers seem to work much better than pin curls, rag curls or perm rods on my hair, the only problem is that I have too much curl.
Do you all use selective curls or do you curl your whole head.
Here is the finished product with the foam rollers.
Excellent point Lady Day. Some of my favorite vintage items were hand sewn and I always feel lucky if it fits. I have to go and get one of those purse sized tape measures. Sometimes I hate trying things on and it would be so much simpler just to measure and buy if it fits.
Pigeon Toe, I always look for junior sized clothing because I know it will be shorter and fit me better. I am currently a 36 27 36 and for some reason it's not a good combo if you are looking for vintage clothing. It's my rib cage that kills me. I will try something on and get excited when I...
Pink, It may be hard to explain in writing but how do you put the clips in? Do you just put them under your hair? Thanks for the information, I am so happy I got some and can't wait to try them. :D
