Another bump. It may not be a spectacular piece, but it could be a good starter for some youth looking to get into hats... For $45 shipped, it's a decent price for a new hat...
Front and back is about 2.75" with sides around 2.5". It might look wider than it is because I have a small head at a size 56. I've considered trimming the brim by 1/8", but decided to leave it as is.
That is an awesome looking hat! You said the color is granite, though the pics almost look brownish... is that a lighting issue? Just want to be sure since I'm planning on getting a beaver felt in granite, once I confirm some of the final details with Parker.
Here's something that I'm not sure anyone really touched on. One of the reasons that dry cleaning any suit is a good idea, regardless of whether it's washable or not, is that water degrades fabric at a much quicker rate than perchlorethylene (standard dry cleaning chemical, not water based...
Yup, that's the coat. I saw they had the color you got also on the site but none in my size. I also figured the black would be a good change to the ol' cliche tan trench. Of course, now that I have the black, I wish I had the same coat in tan to switch off with from time to time.
Poor grammar and Chinese businesses aren't necessarily a sign of a bad company. I've browsed cosplay websites and recently purchased a long trench coat based on the Doctor Who tenth doctor (David Tennant) from one of them. The coat itself was small for the size I gave them (fit decent, but...
Has anyone tried the current serviceman trench in black by chance? I just picked one up and it's actually a very classic style. Forgive the bad pic, dirty mirror and all...
Yes, it's not quite Rick's being black, but for a modern trench, I like it more than the London Fog "Bogart" style...
Interesting, I didn't realize that some of the words and phrases that we commonly say these days originated across the pond... but I suppose with the prevalence of the Harry Potter books and movies (for those younger folks), and channels like BBC America (big Doctor Who fan here) we have more...
I don't know that I've ever commented in this thread...
I'm a computer programmer by day and an EMT on weekends... I've tried my hand at a few other things over the years, such as winemaking and rare book dealing, but these are the two jobs that seem to stick. I started working in data...
Several from my list have been mentioned already:
Office Space
Blade Runner
Big Trouble in Little China
Austin Powers
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
And a few to add:
Serenity (good sci-fi cult film)
The Thing from Another World (1951)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)
Give Parker a call and talk with him about your options, he's a great guy to talk to and is very knowledgeable. I'm sure if he thinks there would be an issue with reblocking your Christy's, he would fill you in before you go forward with sending it along. He'll also be able to give you a great...
Personally, I would leave the optimo style in tact. They're nice hats and would retain a good value over time, should you ever want to get rid of it. Once you alter something like that, the value would likely drop considerably. JMO.
Regardless of which hatter you would go with, you will certainly have better experience than with Christy's hats. The latter are notorious for shrinkage, possibly due to the minimal processing done while they're being blocked. I've considered getting a Christy's several times, but knowing that...
