If it were me, I would hand sew it. It will pucker when it is pinned, but as you hand stich it it will be easier to ease it then on the machine. It's the perfect thing to do while watching and old movie.
I have a new pair on order. The best I could come up with that were available through my eye dr, were the Juicy Coutour Vintage. I believe they were mentioned earlier in the thread.
Inky, I think a 3/4 length sleeve would be fine. I don't think a long sleeve would work but 3/4 should be darling.
That sweater is very much like the one I have been working on for ages. It is a rib knit like that but has a V neckline. I am doing it in aqua too.
Etsy does have vintage but no vintage snoods. All on there are newly handmade. There are some in the vintage catagory but they really don't belonge there since they are made new and not over 20 years old (Etsy's rules on posting in this catagory).
As for finding a real vintage one and comparing...

The measurements on the envelope are your measurements. The finished garment measurements are on the pattern pieces (usually the bodice on a dress). But, keep in mind neither of these are always acurate, as Racheal pointed out.
