Here are two amazing 1940s / 50s ties that are new in their original gift box. These ties still have the cardboard inserts to keep them from wrinkling! Each tie is 45" long, and just over 4 1/2" wide. Not a mark on them and they are as vibrant and soft as they day they were sold! No...
Tried some kitchen matches in it, the case is longer then the matches by just over 3/4 of a match length. Were matches similar lengths back then?
I am not convinced it is a match safe or a tooth pick holder, I would think they would want the case to be similar in length to what it is holding.
I just double checked it. I doubt it was a lighter, the inside lip goes all the way to the top of the case.
The split in the lip is V shaped almost like you are supposed to be able to grasp the stuff inside. Wonder if it is a fancy gum holder?
I found this in a box of my Grandfather stuff and am wondering what the heck it is?
It is silver and isn't big enough to be a cigarette case. Anyone have any ideas what the heck this thing is?
Interesting art decoish design

My mom relates the story that she was in her senior social studies class and they were talking about the cold war. The teacher was saying that the first thing the soviets would do if they were to invade the US was to assassanate the president (something he explained to all students I guess)...

To each thier own. I look at my hat like I did my weapon in the military: never more than an arms reach away and the only way someone is going to take it from me is after I am dead or mostly dead.
Then again, I never did play well with others :)
