It looks to be beyond any hope of restoration. What's left of the leather looks like it will crumble into dust at the slightest touch. I'm saving my $4,000 for other things.
Reminds me,...I want to have Shaul at U.S. Authentic make me a custom version of their Barnstormer jacket. I'll have a D pocket of some sort put on it, and maybe a zipper closure instead of cumbersome buttons, as well as side hand warmer pockets. Time for some research then. :)
A grand slam for sure. Reminds me that I need to visit my local thrift shops again soon. :D
The graphics on the labels have a 1940s or 1950s sort of look to them. Are there any other labels inside the pockets, such as a union label maybe?
I nominate "Valkyrie". Just watched it again recently, and found it to be a riveting world war 2 drama based closely upon real events. Even though Tom Cruise was in it, he managed to do a good job at portraying Claus von Stauffenberg in the film.
Very nice indeed. Any plans for making other items such as belts, holsters, or knife sheaths? I'd be interested, and I think quite a few other members here would too.
Generation War is on Netflix right now. I just watched it the other night. Overall I thought it was well made, but as pointed out by Fastuni the producers took liberties with reality to make a more entertaining film. The way they usually do.
Only thing I can criticize about it is that the ending seemed rushed. Like they ran out of film and had to end it like NOW.
This story would make for an interesting modern remake I think, with the right cast and all. Maybe get Quentin Tarantino to do it?? ;)
Same here. The relative nearness to our time, and the fact that we probably all had ancestors that were directly involved, and the sheer insanity of it is fascinating.
I just watched "The Ghost Army", a documentary about the special unit that created "special effects" that tricked the Germans...
Quite right, and sad but true. I certainly won't miss what passes for "music" these days. But this current computer generated rubbish does not bode well for the future of music I fear. It's all just fast and cheap,...like so much of our "culture" these days, made with the idea of just making a...
Just started watching "Generation War", an extremely well made German series about 5 friends and their experiences during world war two. I highly recommend this series.:eusa_clap
I always thought it would be a great adventure to bag a buffalo,...but after seeing them up close, the sheer size of them makes me think twice. I'll stick to smaller, easier to manage, tastier, and more tender game. Although I do enjoy a good ranch raised buffalo burger now and then, 10,000...
Very unique and personal glimpse of German military life in Holland. Almost looks like a vacation album as the German army was at the height of it's power. The photographer was a very capable amateur. I love the hand crafted scrapbook with the ticket stubs.
Precisely,..they, and their many friends, want our money. I recently installed AVG Internet Security and it has an ad blocker built in which seems to work quite well for the cookie problem. I used to go from ebay to other web pages and would be inundated with ads for things I'd recently viewed...
World war 1 is 100 years old now! All of the veterans are gone. But it still has a strange sort of haunting "nearness" to it as it was fought by many of our ancestors, and was truly a "modern" war because of the technology employed. I think that it's the photographic and film records of the war...
Yes, exactly. When frying them up, just add a little water then cover the pan with a properly fitted lid. The steam will cook the tops of the eggs to perfection. :D
Being a fan of this, and a great many other old TV shows I found this interesting article about the sets used not only for The Andy Griffith Show, but also quite a few other productions as well. The actual town of Mayberry even appeared in an episode of Star Trek. :D...
