Nothing surprises me anymore.
Saddens me but not surprising. It's like aliens have overtaken these humans and forced them to think this is 'art', 'culture' or a 'fashion spread'....whatever you want to call this, it's not good.
When I got married 33 years ago it was agreed that I would stay home and be a homemaker. It was all I really ever wanted to do, even though my mother nor my grandmother (we lived with my grandparents) taught me ANY homemaking skills! Not how to make my bed, do laundry...I kid you not, I had to...
I never canned until I met my husband in high school. My first canning experience was making fresh pork breakfast sausage (yes, this city girl raised and butchered a hog!!). We cooked up breakfast sausage patties, out them in a quart jar, poured the hot grease over it, turned them upside down...
Me too!!! I love history, particularly about everyday people (by that, I mean not actors or actresses specifically). Thank you, LizzieMaine, for this thread!
I agree! I love long full skirts but at 5'3", I get swallowed up in anything more than two inches' below my knees! Also, anything to high up on my neck and I look like a turtle! (DEFINITELY NO TURTLENECKS!!)
Are you grating the Zote into the dishwater? I see bars of it at the market but neve bought any....I may give this a try! And the Dollar General "color safe bleach" tip sounds like a winner-I'll let you know if I find any at our dollar stores.
This could be the case.
My husband says, "you look the same when you wake up as when you went to bed and I love that!". (I wear no makeup-haven't in 35 years!).
To me, that's worth not having a total "vintage" look....although there ARE days I wonder what I would look like with eyeliner.....
I've been here too!
My husband loves me in wranglers, T-shirt, boots, NO makeup, hair lightly done (NO HAIRSPRAY, no scented products!). HOWEVER he loves what he calls my "June Cleaver" dresses I wear to church...which I promptly return to the closet when we get home. We live in the country and...
With me, it's the fact of having been a bean pole for the first 40 years. I now have curves (which I adore....and so does my hubby!:o) and jeans don't fit well nor look good on me. I do own 2 pair of flannel lined jeans that are vintage-looking but I adore my skirts and dresses, whether vintage...
In my case, my internet connection is not good. (I live in the bottom of a canyon in the countryside.) I cannot tell you how many times I've typed out replies and questions only to have the connection 'disconnect' and all is lost! We did install a booster and it seems to be helping so hopefully...
Yes, so am I! I'm scouring the thrift stores but not finding too much yet. I like to take bigger garments apart and tailor them to me. If I am lucky to find a men's small tweed coat, I'll just nip it in the sides a bit :)
It's rather hard to find tweed around here... :( not much call for it in...
Outside of the oldies but goodies..."I Love Lucy", "Leave it to Beaver", "Father Knows Best" and such...I confess I watch and adore Duck Dynasty :o I have a son who would fit right in :D
But that's really the only modern tv show I will watch...BTW,what's up with all the zombie and vampire tv...
