Now this is more like it! - Duchess of Cambridge in Canada outfit.

I think it's quite insulting to compare her, Diana had issues and I'm afraid I have far more respect for other royals who do their thing quietly and without rigmarole... Anyhoo, I don't want to Diana bash-but I hope Kate stands her ground and is her own person and doesn't get 'assimilated' into...

I liked the country sloan look, I just hope she's not always going to dress like a 45 year old Sloanie.

    House histories?

Oh wow...that's so sad. I recently found out that a relative of mine was killed as a toddler in an incident in Kent. Her parents placed her in a nursery nr Westerham and it was bombed. I'm currently raking through the archives to learn more. No wonder you get the chills there!

Now this is more like it! - Duchess of Cambridge in Canada outfit.

Oh dear, I'm going to be the voice of disenchantment. I think she dresses in excess of her years, the shoes are too slim in the heel and very 'nunty' I think she needs to put the pre-wedding pounds back on, she looks gaunt and lo-llypop headed. I wish she would stop putting such thick liner...

    House histories?

Sadly only one wall had the paper scraps and I was tempted to simply preserve some of it and frame it! However, some of the original lime and horsehair plaster had come loose and so it had to be redone. I scraped as much off as possible and have pressed it in a book. I love living in Beverley...

    House histories?

I love this thread! My house in Yorkshire was built in 1756, in the centre of a medieval market town. I'm currently ploughing through the census and have found that the young lady who lived her in the early 1900s was called 'Leake' (yes her Christian name!) and she looked after her father until...

    Would You Have Said Something?

I'm British and when I visited the states many years ago I felt uncomfortable being asked to 'pledge allegiance'. I'm not American, but I respect that people feel that they can do it. I get very, very cross however when people talk or disrespect the silence during parades and here in England...

In Need of Some Positive Societal Reinforcement...

I remember feeling awkward and out of place at school, I felt as though I had nothing in common with them, I liked books and vintage clothes and old films. I mixed and matched my eras and styles. I found it difficult, but recently a girl who terrified me at school as she was 'the pretty, cool...

Miss tuppence, that's superb. You do look like something from 'Woman and Home'! excellent work all, I only just learned to crochet and am trying to finish a beret, but having trouble decreasing the band, so I'm taking it to East Kirkby next weekend to try and get help from my crochet genius...

    Polish pilots in the RAF

We're unveiling a memorial to 302 (City of Poznan) Squadron in East Yorkshire later this year. They were the first Squadron to form in this country and we raised the money by serving tea and sandwiches to other reenactors for donations. The Poles were treaty appallingly by the UK at the end of...
