These days I'm browsing thru the 1975 edition of "The MGM story", a true doorstopper that I bought at the remarkable "Fine books" at Palma de Mallorca. It covers 1.705 MGM movies of 50 years, all with pictures and information on story line, actors, makers. This'll keep me busy for quite some...
Thank you for your sweet comment. It's just something very different to shoot with an analogue camera. I just rediscovered this joy, and it makes me sad to see that it's getting harder and harder to find a developement service that does a good job at an affordable price.
Your photo in post...
I wish I had the time. I have a cute apple print lying around for a while, it would be just right for a christmas outfit. If you decide on sewing something, I'd love to see it!
Just in time to push up these pumpkin cuties!
But the true reason why I'm posting is to encourage those ladies that aren't as perfect as the superbe hook'n'needle magicians who posted before. :D
I'm one of the humble beginners, and I'm still proud of my very first crocheted snood which I just...
Thank you for your sweet compliment! :)
I don't think the dirndl is considered vintage, it's considered Bavarian. Meaning, when you wear it outside the region where it has it's home (southern Germany, e.g. Bavaria), people might think you're going to a costume party. It's really a very...
Yes, I'm lucky but maybe not as much as you think, since what I inherited is mostly 70s or even later. The few things I have that are older are lucky finds from the internet or thrift stores. The oldest piece I own, a dress which is most likely from the (early?) fourties, was given to me from a...
I can totally understand you, not every girl looks great in 30s or 40s wardrobe. If you don't feel comfortable wearing it, it's the right decision not to. But maybe you still could keep a bit of that dream in the back of your head, just so when that perfect dress might cross your way some day...
haha, that happened to me, too. :D plus, I almost killed myself with the needles, somehow I managed to fling them high in the air, so at least one of the needles hit the wall, ceiling, my eye... That almost made me give up, but now I'm happy I kept on trying.
My stitches are still too tight, but...
If you have a little patience, why don't you go ahead and learn it. It's not that hard, really. I'm a beginner myself and I feel SO proud after just having finished my first sweater. A real wearable garment, yay! :D
Those packages really made a difference to many families back then. They even found their way into our language - when someone gives you a package with food and/or things fit to feed the soul (like books or toys), we still call it a "Care-Paket".
Sheeplady, that's such a great idea! Almost as you had it especially for me, since I've looking for a way to wear ear clips (can't wear them on my ears coz it hurts) and I also was looking for sweater clips which is awfully hard in Germany. Thanks so much for this creative idea! :)
You don't...
Engel, I have one pair of Hush Puppies that I just love because they are soo comfy. Really, I wish I could wear them all the time. Their size is a bit smaller than I usually have, I usually wear 38 or 38,5 in summer shoes, these Hush Puppies are 39 and fit perfectly.
Divinadoll, that looks splendid! Is it meant for outdoors or as a home garment? (just asking because it doesn't seem to have any kind of fastening)
The pleats on the shoulders are neat!
I found a wonderful book called "Our century in pictures" from 1964
It has loads of b&w photos, some paintings/drawings and about a dozen full page color photos from the beginning of the last century till the present (meaning 1964) day. Many many photos and documents from both world wars...
As it is shown in the second picture, it doesn't look very 20s. But you should be able to jazz it up a bit. I'm not too much of a 20s person myself, so I'm probably not the best one to give advice. But just to get it going...
The fabric will be important, like the flower pattern in the first...
