Same here in Oz. My art deco dresser set, which I had valued, is worth $2000+, but that one is amazing quality. I bought the set for $300 originally at a thrift store that had no idea of it's worth (2 huge wardrobes with curved doors and a dresser with glass tops and chair). The other set I...
I was really hoping they would bring Sal back this season (AND last season). Now that they are not dealing with Lucky Strike they could. He was a GREAT character and I miss him. Was too sad and sudden an ending for Sal :(
Thanks Ada! The head-vase actually holds my 30s water waving combs but certainly could hold brushes. I have 3 ladies, the other two are on a set of drawers and one of them is a hat-pin holder as well as a vase. :)
Very cute GF! As for the glass, it's needs to be tempered glass which is toughened and won't break, unless you drop it of course! The glass on mine is about 5 mm thick and it has a bevelled edge. Just got to glass place and get a tempered piece cut for you. Normal glass just isn't strong enough.
Yay! Been a long time between series...but for good reason. At least Weiner got to keep all his cast members and the length of the show. Looking forward to it!
Here's my dresser. I have a 1930s dresser and robes. I put little rubber stoppers under the glass top on the dresser so I can display some of my compacts and vintage jewellery.

Opened my Etsy store last week. Just wanted to let fellow Aussie and NZ Loungers know that I'll be listing A LOT of the gear from the 20s to the 60s in the coming weeks. And postage is cheaper if you live in Oz ;P Named the shop after my Nana 'Violet' or 'Vi' to her friends, who got...

Perfect Sense. Indi Scottish film (2011) about a global epidemic that wipes out your senses one by one. Stars Ewan McGregor. Very interesting and quite haunting in the end.
Nice Miss C. My latest pair that are about 50cm wide at the bottom and made of flowing viscose were from Portmans of all places. They had them in black and ochre so I bought 2 pairs. They are not as low in the crotch as the ones I have made form original patterns of course, which is a shame, but...
This is a great reference. I find that clothing catalogues of the day, that were bought by everyday people, are the best indicator of what was worn, how it was worn and the accessories that were available to go with it. But the book...it is great and keep an eye out for 1920s Sears and...
There have been so many rumours about this movie. Some even stated that is was a 'fan-movie', but this seems to have been dispelled. Other stories state that there will be no connection between this movie and the next in regard to characters or future dealings (Alien)....so therefore, how could...
My latest post on SF:
