I actually tend to agree with you on this. Australia Day doesn't mean much to me, and having worked in Aboriginal Ed for a long time in the 1990s, I had many indigenous friends who did think Australian Day was a slap in the face, and I was sympathetic to that.

Yes, vintage knitted gowns and blouses do stretch quite a lot. I have 2 gowns and there is a lot of give. Sadly, there is damage to it Marc, under the arm, so I guess we'll see. Very cute though :)
