Thanks very much Steve - and no, I meant the actual liner emblem under the liner crown protector which reads 'Borsalino Giuseppe & Fratello'. If you enlarge my pic no. 3 showing the liner, you will see more clearly what I mean. I remember seeing a pic somewhere of one of your Borsalinos with...

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Thank you hatsRme and Alan and thank you Alan for your very helpful information regarding labels - it gives me a much better idea of the approximate decades of my others and any Borsalinos to come (if I can get away with it!) Chris

Echter Borsalino Homburg in black, dated 14 Nov 1957. Sweatband reads; Mertes, Schildergasse, Koln. I'm a little puzzled by the unusual (at least to me) 'Borsalino Giuseppe & Fratello' liner label. although I remember seeing one of Steve's Borsalinos with this label. There is minor rubbing to...

Thanks for your compliments hatsRme and Steve. Another of my Borsalinos. This one a Qualita Extra Superiore in mid-grey. A slightly taller and straighter crown perhaps than normal and a sewn-in liner. No real idea of date. Chris

Czech Republicans: Tonak, Huckel, no name

Thought I would bump this thread.... Huckel - bought in early 90's at Bates the Hatters, London, so I assume that the 92 on the label is the date of manufacture. Very nice felt, quite stiff after steaming and keeps its shape well, so I assume that there is a fair amount of shellac treatment...

You could well be correct Steve. All I am going by is that when I bought it in Jan 2014 from Burnham Hats (in England), their website stated " Today the company is split into two Licences with FWS hats based in Cologne, manufacturing the whole range for Europe ......" Out of interest I looked...
